    Hey Becca. In the food tracker, it shows carb grams and fiber grams. Carb grams less fiber grams = net carbs.

    I try to post what I ate for the day so others (you) can see how I am keeping my carbs low....(most days).

    Today my carb grams were 46 and net carbs were 27. I think the Atkins plan wants your net carbs at 20.

    I think you are doing great to keep your carbs at 50-70.

    In fact, I think you would be doing great to keep them under 80-100.

    Cutting carbs is important because the liver takes the carbs, like from potatoes and bread and rice and pasta, and actually turns them into sugar inside the liver. Bad reaction!!!!!!!!!! That somehow makes it easier for the body to store fat!

    You keep it up, you will succeed. Try posting in our discussion board, tell us what you ate that day....it will help you be accountable.

    The important thing is to wean yourself off the bad carbs....the bread, the cookies, the pizza.

    Thank you for responding on the board. I am trying to keep my carbs to around 50 per day. Sometimes I go to 70, (and sometimes I fall off the wagon). However, I still count the carbs.

    Could you please explain net carbs to me and how you get your net carbs to 20?

    wow! I read your comment on 50+ and that could have been me writing what you wrote. I went off track the end of October and weighted in today at 231 lbs. Today is my 1st day back on track. I hope I can make it through the day successfully. I'm starting to get hungry already! Wishing you all the best in 2014. Added you as a spark friend! Linda emoticon emoticon
