Vibrant Wellness

I love Spark People and started to use it back in 2009. Since then, my lifestyle is totally transformed. One way is in my movement and exercise. I was a fitness instructor for 11 years, teaching up to 15 classes a week. I have Narcolepsy and crashed my car, unable to teach fitness anymore.

I've gone through various injuries since then, including another car accident. What I've noticed recently is knee pain, which I've never had before. Other changes in my lifestyle have had me sitting more, and the extra weight (about 30 pounds) and lack of regular strength training all have contributed to my knee pain. This has prompted me to come back to SparkPeople. I don't believe we have to be in pain as we get older, and at 46, I want to care for my body such that I feel healthy into my 80's and beyond.

My Goals:
My goal is to eat healthier, meaning more fruits and veggies, as well as drink more water. Also, to get back to a regular exericise routine that feels good to my body now (not 10 years ago), meaning gentler workouts of cardio 3-4 times a week, strength training 2 times a week and then adding a 3rd day once I reach my first weight goal (190).

My Program:
Think about what I eat! I've had a habit of eating lots of high calorie foods (I love cheese, hummus and buttered popcorn!) and then beating myself up afterward. Right now, what works for me is to remember that those minutes of gratification will decrease my enjoyment of the other 23+ hours of my day. Gym 3x week with my husband, 1x on my own. Walk dog daily. Sleep when I'm sleepy rather than eat to try to stay awake. Track water.

Other Information:
Intention and awareness are everything. Think about what you want, then imagine and act as if you already have it!
