Up until now none of you knew that my maiden name is Sparks & to be honest I was a little sad to see it go back in 2010. It's always been the perfect name for me. Julie Sparks, full of life & love. I am and always have been a firework, I was born on the 5th of July. My mom went into labor watching the fireworks off the coast of the Pacific in San Diego 29 years ago. I was born to sparkle.

After becoming a wife and mom and before finding sparkpeople I lost my spark.. my mom died a slow, heart wrenching death and I got really fat.. I hit a real rough patch. I always was big, but 2011 brought me into the 300s. All that really matters now is that I'm here and I'm back. I sparkle again. I wish she could see me, how beautiful I feel.

Even though I chose to change my last name, my legacy will always live on as Julie Sparks thanks to SP. Although now I live it as a verb instead of a noun. The support I have found through this site has forever changed me and has brought me back to life. There are so many of you who have brought me back to what I used to be. Words can't express how much your support means to me.

Thanks to you I will always be Julie Sparks.
I spread the spark everyday.
I live it and love it.
I spark, therefore I am.

Original: My son was born Feb. 10th, 2011 and I never thought my weight would get as high as it did. My body looks a way that I never would have imagined.. I've been avoiding having my picture taken with him because I don't want to see myself look so big, so different from what I think I look like.

I've been over 200lbs for most of my 20's, but it doesn't have to stay this way. My 27th birthday is about 2 months away and I set a pretty hefty goal for myself to reach by my 28th birthday, it's a big one, but its obtainable.. Others have accomplished it, so why not me?

Update: Since joining SP and writing this intro I GAINED about 40lbs taking my weight higher than it was the day I delivered my son. Nothing like surpassing your full-term prego weight 6 months later.. By my 27th birthday my weight was the highest ever-314! Then I got serious! I have been a member of SP since April of 2011, but didn't really stick to it until after the summer of 2011. Seeing pictures of myself that big blew me away.. In about a month I will be celebrating my 2 year anniversary with SP and I am proud to report that I lost all the baby weight, wearing pre-baby jeans and almost at the same weight I was on my wedding day!!

I also felt really empowered when I started reading labels after my celiac diagnosis. I always considered myself healthy -- yet I had no idea what I was eating!! For the most part, I try to adhere to Michael Pollan's "rule" of eating foods with 5 ingredients or fewer. Most of the foods I eat aren't frankenfoods with 30 ingredients. And having to avoid wheat, of course, makes that easier. :)

Thanks for answering all of my questions! I thought you might incorporate them into a blog, LOL. ENJOY that first meal tomorrow!! I am excited for you -- both for your accomplishment AND for your meals tomorrow!
