Today is the Day

Hi, I'm over the age or 60 and am retired. I have Post Polio Syndrome so exercise is NOT an option. I really need to get my weight down and KEEP it down.

2014 Goals: Revised 7/26/14
1. Weigh 200 by November 2014
2. Eat as healthy as possible
3. Travel and not gain weight
4. Do as much exercise as my body will allow, without doing harm.
5.Be thankful for what I can do and not waste anything!

My year end goal to be 24 lbs lighter. I started my year at 219.2 and hope to end up at 200. (I had hoped for 185) Then for 2015 I will make my next 20 lb goal.

My Goals:
I started in 2007 and wanted to lose 20 lbs. It is now 2014 and thanks to traveling I am back where I started in 2007! UGH!! So 2014 will be my year to finally do it. I will lose 15 lbs this year.

August Goals:
1. Eat less salt
2. Track what I eat
3. Sew 5 times a week
4. Clean up on sewing room drawer a week
5. Eat more fruit.

My Program:
After reading "The Polio Paradox and What You Need To Know", I am rethinking my diet attack. I will try to follow a low carb and higher protein diet. I must try to get about 130 carbs (fruit has more carbs then I thoguht) and 60 protein for all 3 meals and snacks per day.

Carbs are the hard part. I will see what I can do and stay about 130. Fruit has more carbs then I thought, but they must be "better" carbs. Will watch the not so good carbs like breads, pretzels, etc.

Time will tell.


Personal Information:
I was born in Pennsylvania and now live in the wonderful State of Florida! I am married to a wonderful, fantastic man. Between us we have 3 children, and 4 grandsons and 1 lovely granddaughter. We love to travel and I use a walker with a seat so I can travel and at times take a mobility scooter. When we do all day walking events I use my scooter! I love to paint, quilt, bake, cook and read on my kindle.

Thanks for the Hot Tub! I could probably use it after this week but it's been so hot, maybe I'd just have a Warm Tub! So happy we've become friends on here. Have a great weekend!

I've never heard of Post Polio Syndrome but after googling. Oh my gosh! That is awful. I am so sorry. emoticon

Thanks for the strawberries! Believe it or not, I'm still eating frozen strawberries from our patch from last summer. They are wonderful in my oatmeal in the morning. Hope you're doing well!
