Time to make time for me....

I believe we're given a new chance to make every day better than the one before. For too many years I have put others before myself and I need to move myself to the top of the priority list. To be honest, that feels selfish of me but I think it's time.

Beginning Steps 7/5/13

First step: Joined Spark People

Second Step: Start tracking my eating

Third Step: Exercise 10 minutes 3 times a day.

Personal Information:
My name is Charla and I live in Bakersfield, California. I am 45 and want to get fit. I have 4 grandchildren ages 0-7 and I want to be able to keep up with them. I do have hypothyroidism and am now working with my doctors to stabilize that. I work as a Director and teacher of a children's center and most days, I'm exhausted when I get home. I am a believer in slow but steady wins the race.

Other Information:
Love reading, playing with my grandchildren, watching movies and looking forward to rediscovering myself.

Trevor, thanks for asking. I quit. I just didn't have the energy. However, I have recently been diagnosed with severe anemia, low vitamin D and low B-12. Now that I am FINALLY being treated by a proper doctor, I hope to turn things around. I have adjusted my initial goals to be more realistic as per my conditions. I'm back and hoping to lose 33 more pounds this year. It's going to be slow...it's going to be difficult with my current limitations, but it's going to happen. Even better, I've now got my husband on board. SO much easier when you have someone in your immediate corner!

How do people do this and work full time? That is a hard question, I wonder about how people have kids in day care, dogs cats and still get food on the table? I am amazed at what people accomplish! The healthy cooking challenge was a huge challenge for me in many ways, but I learned so much! I study and observe other sparkpeople I admire or read the motivational pages. I think about how much money I may spend on healthcare later if I do not take the time now to make the dinner. I ask myself the same question, how are other people doing this. Your not alone and I understand where your coming from. emoticon
