There are some goals that you don't even know you have. You act as if..... because you really don't believe you can.... and if you don't ACT as if it is possible, then there is no possibility of success, right? Then surprise! One day you realize you did it. And it is.... very emotional... realizing you could reach a goal. Realizing what or who you really want to be. Realizing you can do anything one step at a time.

"It is hard to have confidence in yourself. So tempting to give up after trying and failing. Yet we all MUST keep trying. Success is just waiting to happen and we have to give it a chance." I wrote this to an SP member and was so struck by my own words that I decided to copy it onto my page to read again and again when I feel like giving up. Who knew I was so smart?

"To have faith, is to trust yourself to the water.
When you swim you don't grab hold of the water,
because if you do you will sink and drown.
Instead you relax, and float."

I joined SP in July 2008 and have seen small but definite changes in my life. I don't try as hard as I used to and funny enough that has been a good thing. I used to diet or take on hard fitness programs.. and quit. I'd sabatoge myself or life would happen and I would give up. Now, I exercise regularly and with more variety. I have learned to eat with an awareness of carbs, fats and protein and spread my food over the day. I rest and get better sleep. I have trimmed my blogs and kept the meaningful ones. It's a slow journey for me but I realized today it is downhill since I came to SP. That's a GOOD thing, lol. I have diabetes and 50 years old so, you know, it is really hard to have the scale show my progress. I have let that go. It is about being accountable and as I get used to a new "habit" making it a part of my lifestyle. I think my new friends on SP will continue to challenge and inspire me to be all that I can!

SP has shown me that I can live healthier. I have physical goals, eating goals, drinking water goals, sleeping goals, lol - sexy goals... and I want to feel strong, fit and toned. SP is also helping me control my blood sugars. I am learning to live now the way I want to live in the future. The bonus is I am losing weight.

Physically: I swim, do aquafit. I'm a Rideau Trail Nut because I am writing a historical fiction about the building of the Rideau Canal which goes from Ottawa to Kingston and I am determined to walk the length of it. I have an artificial knee but have discovered walking with poles gives me stability and confidence to walk rough terraine plus build some arm strenth. Strength training has revved my metabolism and toned my body so I feel... sexy.

I run a small bed and breakfast. A year ago my dream was to make it spa/fitness oriented and as of January 2010 that dream has become a reality. When I have SP guests it is a gift to my program as we can eat and exercise together.

Problems: My biggest problem is consistancy. Life happens. I balk at failure and at success. That's the beauty of SP because it helps me build healthy habits. When something goes wrong... which is always does... SP helps me regroup my goals and continue on. I'm in for the journey!

"If you can't fly then run. If you can't run then walk. If you can't walk then crawl. But whatever you do, keep moving." - Martin Luther King, Jr

"Some people come into our lives and quickly go, while others stay and leave footprints in our hearts and we are never the same." Thank you Spark Friends.

Hi, thanks for the info on the book. I swear I have more books in my home than Foyles - including some I haven't read yet so I'd made a rule to say I can't buy any more at the moment. That said, I did have a browse on line to find 'The Gifts of Imperfection' and very nearly ordered it. At which point I remembered that A] my income is less than my outgoings at the moment B] I'm not supposed to be buying more books, and C] I've got out of the habit of asking the Universe to provide.

So, I've put it out to The Universe. However, as well as wanting things to be 'perfect', I also tend to want things yesterday. Which is why I'm going to go through some of my book shelves tomorrow and select some books to donate to my favourite charity shop, which happens to be about 5 minutes from my home. Who knows, they may have a copy. Not that I'm trying to hurry The Universe along............... emoticon

As to my 'fing' you're thinking along the right lines. Team 'GB' have done well overall in the cycling btw. So much so that some people are casting aspersions. I truly hope they are unfounded - I loathe cheating. As ever, I've enjoyed dipping into various sports during the Olympics and seeing some amazing performances from athletes/sports people from all over the world.

Thanks for the comment on my page - I actually got the book downloaded to my Kindle yesterday. I tried reading a bit last night, but was dog tired, and fell asleep. I will let you know when I get into it, and we can chat a bit. Like I said, I really like Brene Brown, so I'm looking forward to it!
    Have a happy Wednesday emoticon

Faith removes limitations! Remember this when you are ready to bargain with Life for whatever it is that you ask as your price for having passed this way. From THINK AND GROW RICH.
