Doing it for my heart!
SPARKPEOPLE WORKS. I joined SparkPeople on 6/3/09 and since then, I have lost more than 65 lbs! I still have a long way to go, but I'm confident that I will acheive all of my goals in 2010. I give so much credit to SparkPeople (SP), my SparkFriends, and the Couch to 5K (C25K) Program for bringing me to where I am today. I went from being pessimistic, morbidly obese, and having a difficult time climbing the stairs to my apartment to having a much more positive outlook on life and running road races. The best decision I made once I decided to seriously lose weight is NOT to wait until I was thinner to begin running. I started C25K at 275 lbs and was able to run a mile at 255 lbs: it definitely is possible. Also, I am not the only girl on SP who is running while obese: there are so many other success stories of big girls running 5Ks. We may not run 10-minute miles, but we are out there showing the world that we can do it. My biggest obstacle in past attempts at weight loss was restricting certain foods and giving up when I finally succumbed and ate pizza, french fries, chicken wings or ice cream. I'm never going to ban foods that I love from my diet. Teaching myself moderation hasn't been easy, and I'll never be perfect, and that is OK. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CURRENT GOALS: 1. To be under 200 lbs by April 1, 2010 2. To complete a 10K and triathalon in Summer 2010 3. To complete a half marathon in Autumn 2010 3. To lose 100+ lbs by my 30th birthday on 11/30/10, and ideally hit my goal weight of 150 by then. 4. To fit in regular-size pants (not plus size!) 5. To do 10 regular pushups by the end of 2010 6. To spend a night in high heels without dying 7. To eat cleaner and more whole foods PAST GOALS: 1. Run a 5K without stopping to walk at the WCRC Turkey Trot 5K (DONE: 11/26/09) 2. I plan to run the 5K Susan Komen Race for the Cure in Boston. I want to get as fit as I can before then! (DONE: 9/26/09) 3.
