Married to my highschool sweetheart for 30 years :)...we have 6 children ages 16-29 that we love very much and who keep our lives very busy and blessed, am an OB nurse and Lactation consultant. Love to cook, fall is my favorite time of year, thankful for my Catholic faith in my life, enjoy dancing with friends, exercising on the elliptical, staying in touch with friends and family, and IU graduate and fan!!

Other Information:
Enjoy spending time with my family, I am in a book club, each day is a gift, thankful for my family, friends, job and my health.

Hi Kathy -

Happy Monday! I would love the Spinach Orso soup recipe. I will file in for a nice Fall day, I take the Butternut Squash soup recipe too!
I was wondering if you might need to up your calories a bit, to compensate for the awesome exercising you are doing? Maybe add in a few healthy things to each meal or create a post-eliptical recovery meal.

Maintenance *IS* hard. No two ways about it. As I journey back down, I know that so well, and can see how easily I can unravel into old eating habits. Habits and reward - bad combo, but so true.

Major kudos to you, staying away from sweets. The Whole30 book, "It Starts With Food" devotes a chapter to sugar, insulin and leptin resistance, cortisol release. Such a horrible cycle in our bodies and we know clinically that it IS horrible. They do a good job explaining just how bad sugar really is for you and how it serves absolutely no purpose. I can relate to what happens in my body AND I can understand the science behind why it's happening.
Glad you still go to JC for the accountability. Why not?! grab the support everywhere you can and surround yourself with the healthy talk and thoughts and you'll be more likely to stay focused. Because Maintenance is Hard.

Your fun up-coming travels sound so good. I was saying to Jan, you two have such fantastic relationships with your children, even as they grow into young adults and married young adults! I wish I had that with my boys. Nick, my older guy, has always been very good and visiting and we can call and talk etc, but he's found a girl and the relationship has gotten more serious since he returned from his first deployment. So he's still happy to talk but is busier and I'm always worried I'm interrupting something! GAH!. My younger fella has sort of stepped away from all things family and makes himself hard to reach. (crycrycry)

Anyway, the refocus on lifestyle and getting back in control!! Priceless!!
I need to do this for my health AND my sanity.
