My name is Katie. I'm 27 years old. I'm married to my wonderful husband of 7 GREAT years and we have two beautiful daughters together - Kendal, who will turn 4 on February 5th, and her little sister Kara who will turn 2 on January 7th. I began this process in January 2008 weighing 222 lbs which is just 7 lbs short of what I weighed 41 weeks pregnant. I had lost 29 lbs when I found out that I was pregnant with #2. in May 2008. I gained 35 lbs with her and have not been able to get that weight back off. In fact, I'm battling with gaining even more!
Anyway, I was on such a roll back then and I'm trying now to get that back. I've been back and forth with SP since having Kara, but I really need a lot of support and encouragement to stick with this.
My original goal was to reach 160 and change my lifestyle for myself and my family. I currently weigt 241.5, so I have a long way to go, but I'm setting small goals to get myself there.
I was so proud of myself when I had lost 29 lbs and I felt so good about myself. I cannot wait to get that feeling back! Your support and encouragement is much appreciated!
I need to lose the weight for my own health, and to be around for my husband and daughters for a long time to come. I've got a lot of work to do; afterall my doctor just informed me that I have become a candidate for gastric bypass surgery...and I've actually started the process of the diet and the nutritionist meetings, etc. I DO NOT want to go through that. I'd rather have the satisfaction of knowing that I did it myself, but if I can't get it off, then I will resort to that. I have some family members and friends that have had it done, so I've seen how it works. I feel like I have to give another run at this, so we'll see what happens! This has been such a struggle for me my whole life. I really hope I can do this!
My ultimate weight loss goal is to lose 81.5 lbs and weigh 160, but right now I'm not sure what my interim goals are because I'm just getting back into this. The goals below were my previous goals before I got pregnant. I'll update soon...

I am changing my eating habits. I used to tend to not plan on anything and then throw something together at the last minute - whatever was in sight that sounded appetizing. This could've been a candy bar and a bag of chips for lunch. Not so good, I know. That's why I'm now sticking to the recommended meal plan from this website or within my calorie ranges and making my meals at home for the next day.
I will attempt to incorporate some exercise into my program. However, I would normally exercise at night after the girls go to bed, but as of right now, I'm clinging to every bit of sleep I can get, so my exercising is a little bit off. Hopefully, I'll still be able to reach my goals by eating healthy and sticking to the SP recommendations.

Thank you! Today might prove to be a setback but I'm still pretty psyched to get to this stage! When I was over 240 I thought I would never get here and it's taken over 2 years (and I didn't bring new life into this world like someone I know) but you and I have to just keep plodding along coz eventually we'll get there! despite 'maydays' where you eat everything in sight! at least this is what I'm telling myself today, ha ha!

sorry I haven't been replying to your comments on my page, the lack of internet access is really bugging me! but it's going good, I hit 199 in the week and hoping to not go above 200 ever again!

And you can do it! You don't have to have surgery, it means you could never eat bread or steak again! I don't know about you but I LOVE steak and bread (though I hardly eat it these days).
I've found something that works for me at last. After all the diets in the world, including weight watchers, slimming world, shakes, celebrity diets, and for the last 2 years calorie counting and exercise, this has shifted 10 pouunds in 3 weeks which as you know would have taken me 4 months to lost before and I'd have put it all back on super quick. I held steady in the week over xmas and even lost in the week over NY. It's called the harcombe diet and it's a godsend.
