I think we inherited these knees---I have no ligament in my left knee anymore, and that was the case in my right knee before I had the knee replacement. I want to have the other one done, probably in 2014. That's one reason why I want to get this weight off too!
I'm sorry to hear about your health concerns, I've been trying to eat healthy since my cancer surgery, other than my knees I'm healthy and fortunately haven't had any issues with high blood pressure---I just eat too much and snack late at night (though I haven't been doing that this week, which is why I'm losing I'm sure!)
I'm so glad you're doing this for yourself.....we need to stick around for a while!

I didn't know you had kidney disease--that's scary...I went gluten free after my cancer surgery, it's made a big difference...thanks for all the great ideas, some of them I already do but I'll be putting the rest into play...
My biggest thing is late night eating and sweets, so I am rethinking how to incorporate that with my late work hours and all...trying to eat real meals (which isn't always easy at work) and then stop eating when I'm full instead of continuing to eat regardless..
For sweets, it isn't a matter of cutting them out entirely, as I don't do well with total deprivation. I think it's a matter of choosing fruit for instance, or a small serving of a good quality dessert once in awhile that I savor. Learning to live in the real world instead of secretly gorging and then feeling guilty...

Alec, I'm excited about doing this---you know how many times I've tried.....but I sincerely want to get healthy and this site looks really motivating-----Hooray for motivation, right? Congrats on your success by the way, major points to you!

Thanks for the help with the recumbent trike, Alec. I wish I had the money right now, but things are tight and I just can't afford it right now. I will have to stick to working with my Wii for right now and walking when I can. As I lose more weight, I should be able to walk farther on my arthritic knees as it's less pressure on them and I have a walking partner to go with me. Right now I can't keep up with him, but hopefully he'll be kind to me and walk at my pace when we go. I appreciate your help and I do wish I could afford the trike. It would be a nice addition to my equipment! Lauri
