Mom of Two Beautiful Girls

I am 45 female with two daughters. One is 21, in vet school and one is 6 and in first grade. I want to lose this weight to feel better and feel better about myself. Being 50 pounds overweight sure brings its own set of issues not counting the thyroid one! I'm very thankful to have found this site. It's been great! My daughters are a great inspiration to me. Being 50 pounds overweight sure brings its own set of issues not counting the thyroid one! I'm very thankful to have found this site. It's been great! My daughters are a great inspiration to me. Both are very active and my oldest has played sports and rodeo'd for most of her life. My youngest loves to ride horses, dance and goof around. I'm very proud of both of them.

This journey started six years ago with the birth of my youngest daughter. I've never really had problems with my weight until after her birth. In fact, when my oldest was born, within six months I weighed less than prepregnancy. I gained 60 pounds with her, lost about 20 in the hospital and the rest came off fairly quickly with aerobics and swimming. I gained almost the same amount of weight with my youngest but didn't lose anything to speak of when I had her by emergency cesarean at six months gestation. She was a little over 2-1/2 pounds at one point in the hospital. She's quite the little fighter and came home after several months in NICU (now you'd never know she was so tiny and frail)

I tried and tried after I got her home to lose the weight, but somehow it just wouldn't budge. At first I attributed it to the stress and not eating right. After a year, I knew something had to be wrong. I was walking 2 miles a day with a baby carriage and still nothing. After approximately six years, they have decided my thyroid is not functioning properly. I'm hoping when the medication gets regulated and with proper eating and the support I see on this board, things will turn around for me. I'm so tired of carrying this weight. I'm only 4'10 and every extra pound shows and effects me in ways too numerous to list! Here's hoping for a better 2008!

My Program:
I don't really have a program yet. I know I'm taking baby steps to begin with and the first two are to learn to drink water and to do my Leslie Sansone walking tape everyday. It's hard for me to focus right now but I'm determined to give it a shot. I hope when my thryoid medicine is better regulated, I won't be in such a fog all of the time!

Personal Information:
I am originally from Georgia, but have lived the last 30 years in Mississippi for the most part.

Other Information:
My two daughters are my biggest hobby! Then I have two horses and one dog, Baby, a 12 year old lab. Currently my horses are with my daughter in Starkville, MS, while she is attending vet school.

You certainly have two very lovely daughters! My thyroid issues started after the birth of my third child...it certainly is a struggle, but with great support it is possible to lose the weight. I dropped 30 pounds last year, and hope to continue along after plateauing for quite some time. We can do it!!

Hi,
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment on my sparkpage. Your daughters are beautiful. Losing weight and being hypothyroid is difficult, but one the medications are properly adjusted, it should be easier for you. I am on two of the teams you are on and there is so much information and help that the team members offer. Good luck!
