Changing my diet and exercise plan

I have been dieting off and on for years but kept my weight down until I got pregnant after age 40. I did a lot of research on exercises I could do with fibromyalgia and age - a lot of trial and error to find ones I could do. Before I found SparkPeople, I was using several sites daily to get the information I needed.

I have been dieting off and on for years but kept my weight down until I got pregnant after age 40. I did a lot of research on exercises I could do with fibromyalgia and age - a lot of trial and error to find ones I could do. Before I found SparkPeople, I was using several sites daily to get the information I needed.

I like healthier foods especially fruit and veggies. I have a hard time keeping enough calories in my day. I like to be active outside especially with milder weather and summer.

I am a strong Christian and active in the Catholic church. I've become stronger in my faith during the past few years when I was under employed. It didn't really do me any good to "follow the leader" during the "the plentiful years" so I am back to following God. It makes me feel better and I have found peace in my life, better friends and community support.

I'm just Catholic or Christian and not the kind that will preach on the street corner. I will discuss religions with someone to learn about their culture. I will pass things out when people request them. I do attend church. I will pray for someone who requests it. I won't force my views on you but I won't give up or change my religion either.

My Goals:
To maintain my health as I age. To be comfortable with myself and my lifestyle. To eat the foods I like - which are healthy!

I hope someday to return to live in the western states.

My Program:
Keeping lots of veggies and fruit in my diet. Having a lot of variety.
Acknowledging that my preferences are the better for you foods and it's ok to be a "picky" eater.
I've pretty much eliminated junk food.

Personal Information:
Minnesota native with brief periods in Wisconsin and Colorado.

Was raised with a very strict Catholic background which is still a strong part of my personality today.

Other Information:
I like the crime shows, comedies like Two and a Half Men. Golden Pond with Katherine Hepburn was one of my favorite movies. I saw on Oprah where Katherine Hepburn admitted to being Amelia Erheart and I had always been an admirer of both. Katherine Hepburn is a much better role model than any current actress I know of. She always maintained her integrity - she did stick to one man for most of her life and she refused to be thought of as "fluff". In her younger day, she was a very beautiful woman although publicity calls her "plain."

Thanks so much for the goodie! Oh, yes....the thought of Spring is such a pleasurable one! The bright, beautiful sunshine helped bring that thought closer to feeling like it's a possibility!
Wishing you well,

Thanks for your words of encouragement. I agree that the wt coming off slow is the safest, plus I want it to stay off this time. I too have fibro symptoms but have never been diagnosed by a Dr. Whenever I tell them about my symptoms, they seem to sweep them under a rug. Makes me feel like a fool and a whiner. Plus I am a nurse and work with these doctors. I'm frustrated that no one takes me seriously. There realy is a stigma with this illness. Any treatment I have tried, I have had to ask for it. I have also tried supplements with limited success. Now I'm researching exercises that won't make me miserable. Being you have been there, any word of advise? Anyway, thanks for letting me vent. I hope that you are having a fantastic day. Spring is coming! : )

Thanks so much for the kind words on my blog. :)
I am really going to try to do my strength training in the AM tomorrow, I just have to get it done!! Like you said, it is like 15 minutes, I should be able to handle that... and its not like I am not early for work everyday, so I totally have that 15 min. to spare... I just need to make myself do it... I figure, if I do it once, i will realize its not so bad and likely do it again, its just getting past the mind set of sleep being way better then working out while IN BED. LOL
Thanks so much hun!!
You are GREAT!!
