2017 Update - I reached my goal weight November 25, 2012. Lately I've been hovering just above goal weight but that's ok. I have not slipped into old habits and that is huge!

I no longer define myself by the scale. That took some doing let me tell you! It's not about being skinny for me. It's about strength and endurance now. I watched my mom suffer the last years of her life from her sedentary lifestyle. I want to avoid that in my old age!

I still believe in baby steps to reach any goal. Small, healthy, smart changes every single day. That's how I started on SparkPeople and that's how I continue to maintain my goals.

I like to to break up my activity throughout the day to keep calorie burn and metabolism working for me all day long. I also believe in rest days. Muscles need a rest to repair and strengthen.

SparkPeople is such a positive experience for me. I look forward to reading blogs to inspire me. I keep my SparkFriends in my head when I'm out to eat or when I'm pushing through a tough run or workout. Everyone keeps me moving.

    Kelli, I grieve with you. I am having it from both sides, college kids moving on and away while aging parents are shuffling off this mortal coil. Both hard to take especially long-distance. Every instinct tells me to be there, but rational thought says 'accept and adapt', everything is happening how it's meant to be. You're doing all the right things.
