Retired and enjoying it.

I had gained a LOT of weight (317) when I retired, due to some "bad" joints that have since been replaced (left knee and right hip) last year. I am now starting to be able to use them again, but with some limitations. I have lost over 50 pounds but have a LOT more to lose. Since joining Sparkpeople I have lost 3 pounds, I hope to lose 60 more this year. My new joints weigh 9 1/2 pounds more than the bone taken out. So my target weight is 9 pounds heavier than desired. UPDATE: (2-2-09) Joint operations seem to be doing just fine. I still don't have the flexibility I once had, but probably never will at my age. I seem to have "hit-a-wall" with my weight, but as soon as summer gets here, I will hit it hard again. I am HAPPY WITH MY LIFE... because, "There is no tomorrow, only today"

Slow and easy wins the race. I am also losing very slowly...only about 3 # a wk. But I find I have a lot more energy using SparkPeople's diets. And it varies the food so I have less waste from my refrig. Even my hubby with no weight to lose is enjoying the new recipes I try.

I also put on lots of weight when I retired from teaching, but I'm serious about making that a thing of the past. So can you!!!
