Hi, I'm Kathryn. I've finally accepted the fact that losing weight is no longer the easy process it used to be when I was younger. The combination of menopause and mid-life crisis threw me into a depression . I turned to food for comfort and the pounds started to creep up. Initially I was looking for the perfect diet or "magic pill" to lose the weight. Thankfully a health crisis brought me to my senses and with much support and prayers I got on track with a healthy lifestyle. Been a member of SP since Aug 2008 and it has been a blessing. It helps me stay on course from one day to the next and gives me the accountability which was sorely lacking before.. Each morning I say to myself "How can I honor God today?" Part of that requires that I put healthy food in my body (His Temple) and keep as fit as I can. I find that the more my perspective and attitude line up with His will the easier it is to live a healthy life - but I have a long way to go still.

UPDATE Jan 2015

I've been all over the map in the past 6 1/2 years. I knew that changing bad habits and establishing a healthy lifestyle would not be easy, but I did not think it would be this hard. The hardest part for me is staying motivated. I need accountability - that's the best thing about SP, it will keep me honest. I have slacked off and my weight and health have suffered but there is no option but to get back on track or fall farther behind ( and I've got way too much "behind" already)

    God grant me the serenity
    To accept the things I cannot change;
    the courage to change the things I can;
    and the wisdom to know the difference.

    Is today a day to gather strength from the storm -
    a day to to learn life lessons for the next battle?
    Or is today a day to sit by the fire
    and watch the storm rage outside?
    Either way, the storm is just life.
    Give thanks for all of Life.
    you have a wonderful evening, and thanks for stopping by.

    When one has nothing to lose, one becomes courageous.
    We are timid only when
    there is something we can still cling to.
    Have a wonderful day, thanks for the visit.

    Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.
    It turns what we have into enough, and more.
    It turns denial into acceptance,
    chaos to order, confusion to clarity.
    It can turn a meal into a feast,
    a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.
    Gratitude makes sense of our past,
    brings peace for today,
    and creates a vision for tomorrow.
    Just stopping by to say hi.

    I was happy to see you're back. I am still here though not working the plan. I have really slacked off lately. Having trouble getting back on track. Exercising, food prep and cooking healthy all take time and effort. I just keep putting it off and holding myself back. I know what I need to do. I know how important it is. I just don't make myself do it.
    Thank you very much for the goodie. You're a sweetie.
