I'm back to tracking on Spark with some big goals in mind. Life is really really good! I have finally found my balance and couldn't be happier. 2 1/2 years ago I decided to take control of my life and I changed almost everything. I got divorced from a toxic relationship, worked on me and got some boundaries, then set out to start a new business, move to a new area, and start a new life. Now my business is thriving, I am loving life, I am in love and had no idea I could be this happy with it all! I to a giant leap and built my wings on the way down! Now I am soaring!
In my time away I completed a Marathon in 2012 and a Half this past Fall, Participated in an online fitness contest and won, and did a few photo shoots. Now I have my eye on some goals I want to achieve and I'm going for it!
I started on Spark in 2007, wanting to lose some additional weight for my Anniversary and re-dedication to my husband. I had been 167 lbs. at my highest. I was always athletic as a kid and started running when I was in the 5th grade and never stopped. I consistantly ran 3 miles or so once or twice a week on up to 5 days a week at times. I had always been tall and lean and was always a pretty healthy eater, even as a kid.
In 1998 I began to run out of energy and by 2000 I was very very sick with adrenal fatigue. I went through 5 Doctors trying to find an answer to why I could barely manage my life (getting out of bed, showering and getting dressed was about all I could manage and sometimes not even that.) Dr. #5 told me I had Chronic Fatigue and I should file for disability and learn to live with it! Thank God I did not listen and kept looking. I found my current MD in 2005 and got on a path to the right supplementation to start the adrenals back to functioning. It's been a long road, but one so worth traveled. In 2006 I severly broke my leg iceskating and needed emergency surgery. I remember going through recovery and feeling the weakest I'd ever felt in my life.... something had to change!!! I needed a wheel chair because I wasn't strong enough to use crutches the whole time and my shoulders and arms kept giving out. Enough was enough and I was tired of being "skinny fat" and it was time to shed the extra pounds, rebuild my leg and get myself into shape and get healthy! I hired a trainer, who has now been my workout partner for the past 2 1/2 years and I got busy.
I haven't missed very many workouts since then and hit the gym 3-5 times a week doing strength training. I lift hard and heavy and alternate that with high reps of 20 or more on opposite weeks. I still try to run 2-3 days a week also with my dogs, and get my cardio in after my strength training at the gym.
I've learned to eat clean, thanks to Tosca Reno and Oxygen magazine and this site.
I am in my 40's and the healthiest I've ever been and only the sky is the limit for what I want to accomplish!!
~I follow clean eating 99% of the time. I don't believe in 'cheat' meals or days. I pre- cook all breakfast and lunches that include, gluten free hot cereal, salmon, chicken breasts, sweet potatoes, spinach, brown rice and veggies. I plan out every meal and prep it. So there is never a question of what will I eat. And yes, I take my cooler with me everywhere so I always have clean eats and snacks. I eat something every 2-3 hours up till 8:30 p.m. (6 meals a day)
~do yoga 2-3 days a week.
~lift 3-4 days and have changed it up to lifting heavy low reps one week and the next week, lighter weights to failure. I always do my cardio (elliptical) after my lifting at the gym and have my protein shake within 15-20 min. after my workout.
****if you follow my food tracker, note that I put the majority of things on there, but usually have an extra 200+calories that I don't always track because they are repeditive.
Success only comes from hard work and dedication and picking yourself up each time you fall, dusting yourself off and running headstrong back into the fight!
