Hey everybody! I'm Kim and I'm about to be thirty!! More specifically, on April 26th, 2012 I will be thirty. When that day comes I want to not only be happy with my life in general but I want be happy with my body again! (Is that asking too much?!?!?!)

SO. . . I'm doing a countdown to my thirtieth birthday in my Spark Blogs! Every day that I write a blog, I will do it with one thought in mind: What can I do today to get me there?

Hey everybody! I'm Kim and I'm about to be thirty!! More specifically, on April 26th, 2012 I will be thirty. When that day comes I want to not only be happy with my life in general but I want be happy with my body again! (Is that asking too much?!?!?!)

SO. . . I'm doing a countdown to my thirtieth birthday in my Spark Blogs! Every day that I write a blog, I will do it with one thought in mind: What can I do today to get me there?

This is mainly a blog for me but I would love if you followed along and gave advice or feedback too! I am setting up a plan for my meals each day and planning my workouts. I am recapping the previous day. I am unexcusing my excuses, being honest about my stumbles and trying to resolve the struggles I have with my family as I try to get us all healthier.

I have a few thoughts on some things I want to do with my life before I hit the big Three Oh too.

Play golf with my husband.
Play frisbee golf with my family.
Play tennis with my daughter.
Go to Zumba classes with my daughter.
Walk the dogs more.
Train for a half marathon.
Look good enough in a bikini.
Eat somewhat clean diets.
Get Ramen noodles OUT of my house!!
Play basketball for fun. (Because I can't play for real!!!)
Run more with my dad again.
Play with my nephew at the park.
Play with my niece.
Look GREAT in the bridesmaids dress at my sister's wedding.
LOOK EVEN GREATER at her bachelorette party!

Mainly, and most importantly, I just want to be a family that DOES not a family that WATCHES.

I should probably mention that I have a family, in case you didn't put that together already. I'm married and have an 11 year old daughter. (Yes. If you do the math, I'm young and I was REALLY young when I had her.) Her father and I have been together since high school and got married in February 2008 when she was eight. We have two dogs, Apollo and Aurora, and a cat, Cat.

I've got some go to sayings that I try to remember when I'm not feeling it all. My favorite is:

"A man who wants something will find a way, a man who doesn't will find an excuse." -- Stephen Dolley, Jr.

I have this written on a Post It and stuck on my monitor at work!! And I've found that it works in most situations. . . even ones not related to weight loss or healthy living.

Another that I find myself repeating time and time and time again is:

"Just do it." -- Nike

Have more true words ever been spoken?? I rest my case.

And finally, I saw this one on some wise Spark Person's page back when I re-started here on Spark and I've used against myself and I've used it on people in my life when they complain that it's "SOOOO hard"

"It's hard being overweight.
It's hard maintaining your weight.
And it's hard losing weight.
You just have to pick your hard."

I wish I could remember who's page I grabbed that from!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!

Here's the stats:
Height: 5'7"
SP Starting(over) Weight 9/21/09: 184.6
SP Goal Weight: 150.0

Goals and Rewards:
170 - Pair of 12lb dumbbells for home
160 - Tattoo!!

Alright. . . that about sums it up. Hope you enjoyed and hope to see you around!!

My Program:
I am currently aiming to get in 40-60 minutes of cardio and/or ST a day. I workout over my lunch breaks to make sure this happens 5 days a week !! I mix it up with a little of everything but mainly it's running, dog walking and the stair machine and lots of free weights.

I'm terrible about tracking nutrition but I try my hardest. In general I try to make sure that I 1) eat when I'm hungry, 2) eat clean, 3) eat balanced. This doesn't always happen but it's what I've got!

Thanks.. Yep, I've heard that training for the longer distances doesn't mean weight loss. I'm trying to eat smart and fuel properly and just go for my goal.. then I can focus afterwards on the weight loss.. My 40th birthday is late April, and I run the race about a week later! then I have big travel plans to celebrate in September, so hopefully I can make it the year of reaching fitness and weightloss goals!
Hang tough, we can do this!

I thought her birthday was sometime in November. Aw, how sweet. Happy late birthday to her! We turned 10 months yesterday! Every time I call Carly "punky" I think of you, LOL! She sounds like an absolute joy! Carly is very much the same way, very happy, and is beginning to play certain games with us. My oldest son (he's 12) is the quietest of the bunch, and she just loves to stare at him...it's so funny.
She's just getting over Roseola...which was scary for me, and a first time thing. I actually never even heard of it. The scary part was the high fevers. Glad that's over. My 5 yo is fighting a bad cold. Luckily the older 2 are well! The oldest is actually designing her prom dress...YIKES!

Alright, enough rambling from me. I hadn't realized you started a new job. Glad it's going well and that you joined the gym! I'm with you on the working out regime and then food. Water has never been an issue. We can do this girl!!
Take care and keep in touch when you can!

Hugs,
Beth
