Shared Food & Fitness Trackers
Hi, I'm KittyF
I'm now 62, grandma of 6 and I've been on Spark people for 9 years.
I've got arthritis and diabetes that would both be made better if I lost weight. I was very weak when i joined but I'm stronger this year, and feeling stronger I think I should be able to start loosing weight instead of just hoping. so far, no weight loss to speak of, but I'm always working toward more functional fitness. No matter my weight, being able to get around without pain or fatigue is a major goal. Recently found that Gluten seems to make my joints hurt, which is good information. I'm doing much better about leaving it alone which means less pain, YAY
Loose 14 lbs by Christmas.
Strengthen main muscle groups so I can walk without pain in back or joints.
Ride bike, hike
If my knees allow, Jump rope & run.
My dream is to hike the Grand Canyon.
arm and shoulder exercises
Walk every day for 20 minutes
I'm Kitty, from SW PA.
I grew up in Colorado Springs, CO and have a brother and 3 sisters.
I'm married, & have three daughters and five grandkids.I like to sew, read and go to church. I used to hike a lot in Colorado and want to get strong enough to do that again. I miss it.
I can't say what my favorite book is except for the Bible.
I have favorite authors, Georgette Heyer, Louis LAmour, but not really a favorite book.
I'm that way about music as well. I have a lot of faves in many genres, but my favorite genre is Hymns.

I feel I often don't know what my contribution is meant to be. My students at school don't respond well to me and I am not close to my family nor did I marry or have children. I know I could spend some time volunteering, but thst doesn't seem the same as sharing with others who know me. But I know I'm not alone in these concerns, and it is not over!

I found your blog interesting My husband and I were just talking about this subject a few days ago. On how women used to have to clean their clothes in the creek and men worked hard in the field! Whew! Can't imagine having to do that now. I can barley keep up with my kids. But I do stand on my feet all day trying to keep my house clean after them. So I do get some manual labor. lol.
Ps. Don't feel bad about not logging in. Last night was my first log on in quite a while. I need to get healthier and lose weight.

LOL! Kitty, it isn't too hard to get a Corgi to kneel...they are already that close to the ground to begin with!
I did have one Corglet eat a Rosary many years ago... They like shiny things.
Sometime I need to tell you the story of why I am called the CatholicCorgi. Even had someone go to AKC about it at a dog show, but then they'd lost, so they had to find some excuse to complain. AKC said if Mary Frances(yes, that was her call name!) was a Catholic Corgi, then that was her right! LOL! She always had a small medal on her show collar/lead. There is a long story as to how she got her name, too.
I sure wish the weather here in NC would make up it's mind! 7° Sunday night, the high today was 60°! No wonder everyone is sick!
I see you know FlyLady... do you know Pam Young and her sister Peggy, The Slob Sisters? They were the inspiration for Marla. I'm a Sidetracked Home Executive, too! I don't do much with FlyLady, although I'm friends with Marla on FB, but I do keep up with the SHE forums and Pam.
Hope your week in going well!
Peace be with you!

I loved the wringer washer we had when I was a child!!!! I loved the sloshing and loved listening to it. It was actually one of my favorite things and I would beg to be able to help with it. Mom made her own lye soap. When mom won an automatic washer and dryer I was sad.
I can totally relate to what you are saying because I much prefer to work for exercise than be a gym rat. Gyms are so icky to me. I once asked my doctor if I should lift weights and he laughed and said I have more muscles than he does and that I am lifting weight lugging around 40 and 50 pound bags of feed, seeds, dirt, mulch, etc.
Hubby and I have both slowed down from what we used to do 20 years ago when we were constantly starting some new project. I can tell now when I lug stuff around that I am not a spring chicken any more. I don't hang clothes on the line any more either as my hubby accidentally knocked down my clothes line when he was felling a tree and never put it back up.
My knee was bothering me today. Sure isn't much fun to have a new challenge every day! It is so wonderful to hear from you!!!
