Getting back up again

My weight has gone up and down most of my life but then I hit a new high weight and decided I had had it. I got more serious on sparkpeople, got my food in order, started exercising regularly and started feeling better and losing weight. I felt great. And I had lost almost 40 pounds. I was on my way!

Then a series of bad things in life hit me one after the other. I got depressed. I lost my inner strength. I stopped caring about myself. I tried to hang in there but I was only ...

I got more serious on sparkpeople, got my food in order, started exercising regularly and started feeling better and losing weight. I felt great. And I had lost almost 40 pounds. I was on my way!

Then a series of bad things in life hit me one after the other. I got depressed. I lost my inner strength. I stopped caring about myself. I tried to hang in there but I was only putting forth a token effort. I just couldn't seem to find myself again and I just couldn't seem to find the energy to care about me. Sure enough, gradually my healthy habits faded away. Before I knew it I had gained all the weight back that I had worked so hard to lose. I felt even worse. Before I knew it I had gained 20 more pounds on top of it. I felt worse.

Fortunately, I had another "I HAVE HAD IT!" moment. I got sick and tired of living this way and decided I had to change. Unfortunately, right as I was getting back to my healthy ways I injured my back. That was a major blow to my fragile motivation. I'm not going to let it stop me though. I'll start by doing what I can do NOW.

Since I have a lot of weight to lose and a long way to go my plan is to focus primarily on the next five pounds.

Short-term goal - lose 5 pounds
Mid-term goal - lose first 10%
Long-term goal - get under 300

HI Melissa !! I am sooo glad we've been talking so much,,, I hope it's helping you as much as it has been me. I have gone thru so much, but am SO DELIGHTED I am on the other end of it now !! PHEW !! What a UNFUN trip that was !! I had even tried ECT (Shock therapy) which I feel should be BANNED !!! I had already had memory issues from the car vs 18 wheeler ,, car loses accident,,,, I did NOT need to lose MORE from that !!! It was BARBARIC !!! My Dr INSISTED I try it,,,, and I do have to say for "ONE DAY" it DID help,, which was enough to SPUR me onto wanting that ALL the time,, HAPPINESS,,, thats when I heard of the MAOI,,,, to which I currently,, life long,, owe my happiness to ,,,, for fixing the chemical imbalance. I RARELY now have the HIGH/LOWS of a biopolar person,,,,, cos the meds help out so much,, and I am also well aware of what the diff steps I go thru,, onto to a high or low,,, and can stop it at once, with help.

Take care of you first - I am so sorry to hear you have been sick all week.

Summer illnesses are the worst! I do hope you will be feeling up to runnin' with the pack again soon. It's ok, we will just set our pace to match yours.
