Getting back up again

My weight has gone up and down most of my life but then I hit a new high weight and decided I had had it. I got more serious on sparkpeople, got my food in order, started exercising regularly and started feeling better and losing weight. I felt great. And I had lost almost 40 pounds. I was on my way!

Then a series of bad things in life hit me one after the other. I got depressed. I lost my inner strength. I stopped caring about myself. I tried to hang in there but I was only ...

I got more serious on sparkpeople, got my food in order, started exercising regularly and started feeling better and losing weight. I felt great. And I had lost almost 40 pounds. I was on my way!

Then a series of bad things in life hit me one after the other. I got depressed. I lost my inner strength. I stopped caring about myself. I tried to hang in there but I was only putting forth a token effort. I just couldn't seem to find myself again and I just couldn't seem to find the energy to care about me. Sure enough, gradually my healthy habits faded away. Before I knew it I had gained all the weight back that I had worked so hard to lose. I felt even worse. Before I knew it I had gained 20 more pounds on top of it. I felt worse.

Fortunately, I had another "I HAVE HAD IT!" moment. I got sick and tired of living this way and decided I had to change. Unfortunately, right as I was getting back to my healthy ways I injured my back. That was a major blow to my fragile motivation. I'm not going to let it stop me though. I'll start by doing what I can do NOW.

Since I have a lot of weight to lose and a long way to go my plan is to focus primarily on the next five pounds.

Short-term goal - lose 5 pounds
Mid-term goal - lose first 10%
Long-term goal - get under 300

HI hon !! I have a PERSONAL Challenge for ya ! Ur doing GREAT with the exercise,, and ALSO with TRACKING !!! NICE IMPROVEMENTS Melissa !! VERY GOOD !! emoticon

So here's a personal challenge,,, as you track,,,, see if there are swaps you can do thru the day,, to HIT RANGE For Thurs and Fri ! WOOHOOO !! Such as not sure of ur habits,, I used to eat A LOT of chips,,, cakes,, cookies,,, and now instead I have a low cal or greek yogurt,,,, for muching,,, popcorn cakes,, I know its another name for it,, by Quackers,,, OH YEAH ~! RICE CAKES !! BUT !! I've found for GOOD FLAVOR they HAVE to be QUAKERS !! YUMMY !! only 35 cals for ONE, and I am really wanting to much out for something very tasty,, it does it and I 'll have 2 !! I also have now learned the VALUE of having veggies I can grab and MUNCH A ROO !! I've found I ACTUALLY LIKE Carrots,, as long they are in smaller pieces,,,, and long,, so I can CRUNCH on them as I USEd to chips,,, I LOVE them plain , but they can also be dipped into greek yogurt. Etc,, use ur imagination,, you will be FINE !

Melissa, we could walk here, the weather has been nice during the day. Windy for the next couple, so I'm taking advantage of the indoor time doing some Spring cleaning. Last 10 years, Ive had the personal motto, "use it or lose it!". It is no fun coming back from injuries, it takes a long time to recover. I'm now changing my motto to - "USE IT AND LOSE IT"!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon
