Don't Stop Believin' (My What a Long, Strange Trip it's Been)

So, here it is June 2015.

I have gained and lost between 60-73 pounds in a short time frame about 4 times over the past decade, each time strongly motivated by a particular event or occasion (e.g. 73 pounds in just over six months for my wedding at left, about 70 in less than six months to qualify as a kidney donor for my brother last year).

And then the event or occasion passes, and so does my will to eat well and exercise regularly. And back comes the weight even ...
So, here it is June 2015.

And then the event or occasion passes, and so does my will to eat well and exercise regularly. And back comes the weight even more quickly than lost, bringing along a few more of it's friends with it each time...

And so here I am back at the starting line again. But I recently found a much-needed dose of inspiration in Tardis221B's blog about finding victory in her .6 pound loss...rejecting food deprivation and exhausting workouts in favor of enjoying life. I think that's key to what I've been missing in each of my previous weight-loss attempts, enjoyment.

So this time I'm going to do my best not to sprint for some unseen and perhaps ultimately unrealistic finish line, but just mosey along and try as much as possible to enjoy the ride. Slow and steady does indeed (eventually) win the race.

Track nutrition and fitness on SparkPeople!

Elliptical training, Zumba, hiking, weight training, maybe try yoga or Tai Chi?

Aim for 8 glasses of water a day

Sleep more, sleep better hours, no more 4am nights!

Hey there form NZ, thanks for the goodie and the welcome to the FB team - you and I have a bit in common - I am 40 next month and I have lost count of my attempts at this lol - But this year although progress is slow I haven't had any major slips backwards so fingers crossed the second half of the year keeps me moving forward :-)

How funny you came from the east and moved west. The snow can be really nice some days but this winter everyone is done with snow and I do mean everyone.
