My Last Obstacle

Hi all! I am 44 years old, married, mother of 4, working at a local dairy that does delivery service. I enjoy crochet, knitting, beading, reading, and I used to enjoy hiking, swimming, camping and exploring until I gained too much weight to participate. I am tired of being fat. I didn't used to be! I want to be able to climb rocks with my kids and get on rides at Disney Land. I have started and stopped, lost 35 lbs and put it back on, so many times I can't count. I am contemplating gastric bypass and am terrified of having surgery. It's like getting a lung bypass to quit smoking. I realize I have an addiction to food, and I need extreme measures to deal with it. I'm trying again.

My Goals:
My ultimate goal is to be able to walk without pain for more than 1 block.

Next goal: Starting an exercise regimen like daily walking.
Done! My family and I joined the local YMCA and have been going 4-5 days a week and using the circuit machines, treadmill and stationary bikes.


My Program:
Dinner=Done. I am a HUGE after dinner snacker. Teaching myself to stop after dinner has encouraged me to eat better during the day.

Exercise. I have never incorporated exercise before and my goal now is to get fitter not thinner.

Stop the negativity. I am my own worst enemy. I need to learn to give myself credit and believe in myself.

Glad to see you're back. I have you listed in my friends and know exactly what you are talking about. I had gastric by-pass surgery and don't regret it, but know that it is a good start to get going but not magic. I have to work hard now to continue on, but feel it gave me a head start. Make your own decision, and just keep plugging.. you are not alone! emoticon emoticon

Hey there! Wii Fit is fun, but like any exercise video or piece of equipment -- ya gotta commit to using it regularly. If not, it's just another expensive gaming system.

WoW - I haven't been on since Cataclysm hit, but I'll update you in a few days when I've had a chance to.

Thank you so much for your comment! I've actually been having a lot of fun writing this book the past couple of days. My recovery is going as well as expected. I'm really getting anxious to be able to drive again (the pain meds I'm on make me dizzy and I can't drive). But the swelling has gone down a LOT. Thanks for asking :) Have a great day!
