2008-Started Sparkpeople and in 6 months was the healthiest. lightest and thinnest I've been in my whole life (even moreso than when I was a college swimmer!)

2010-Lots of life changes including transitioning from a stand-up active job to a sit-down office job with a culture of bad food and alcohol. Gained about 5kg back of what I had lost.

2011- Lost a little bit of weight and got married to a wonderful man. Had a lot of stressed including the Christchurch earthquake to contend with but still stayed semi-fit.

2012- Weight went up a bit more, but I still felt ok about myself and I ran a half marathon on my birthday.

Jan-Mar 2013- Continued to ignore the true problems that was my constant weight gain and ate what I wanted, when I wanted it. Exercised little, hurt my back I was so unfit= downward spiral and excuses.

April 2013- Started getting help from a trainer who focuses on balancing the body out, back is healed, started to swim, run and bike again.

April 27, 2013- Weighed myself and found that I am now the heaviest I have been in my entire life at 79KG. Just below 80KG!!! Decided to take some "before" photos. Shocked at what I saw in the pictures. I didn't realize how bad it had gotten, how big I had become and how close to obese I looked. My friend said I was brave to take the pictures, but had I not, I would have continued to think that I was much healthier and fitter than I really am.

Now that I can actually see it I have to admit it to myself. I am fat. And I am not happy about it. I am not proud of it. I am embarrassed and I do not want to be the girl in the pictures anymore.

These photos were a wake up call and I am now ready to re-embark on the journey I started back in 2008---to be healthy for the rest of my life in order to have confidence, feel beautiful and enjoy a long life full of energy and happiness.

I cannot wait to post my after photos! Coming SOON!

Sure thing - I love new spark friends to help motivate each other! You look like you're doing well with your goals! Trust me I know all about being MIA for a while - then spark people finds a way to pull you back in =) ... I was MIA for a while and then came back only after gaining back all the progress I had made - my weigh in's are Sundays and this past Sunday I had gained 5 lbs in one week! That's because I went out of town on a bachelorette party and had three days of not caring what I ate or how much I ate of it. Now I'm paying for it!

Your post on my page made me laugh. Well, perhaps they're trying to subtly make you consistent?? LOL Well, the farmers' market sounds like a great idea...I didn't have a fantastic food day yesterday as I went out for a very yummy dinner with a friend, which also included wine (gotta love the mid-week vino) and I'm out for dinner again today. At least exercise has been good!

P.S. 12 hour work days??? They need to send you on a vacation instead of planning for others!!

Hey, thanks for your note. This week has been a bit of a struggle. I wasn't as prepared this week, and also I was bummed by the scale on Monday. Granted, there was some vino over the weekend, but the numbers should have netted something IMO. I decided that it might be a water thing so I'm going to weigh myself tomorrow a.m. and then do Friday weigh-ins rather than Mondays. It has been a bit of an ugly week for me, but I'm hanging in. Glad to see you are, too - it's hard!!!

Aack - what a crazy day! I can only see about 6 square inches of bare desk and I've been running nuts all day. Just saw your post and going to track now....did I say aaack already??

Other than the fact I'm no longer IN Maui, it's not so bad getting back on track. (Hopefully that's not famous last words...) I was pretty geared up to getting back from Maui being 'it' - end of excuses. Still have some challenges - we bought a bunch of cookies for charity a month or so ago (hey, it's charity!!) and they're the pucks in the freezer that you just bake. By my calculations they have a horrendous amount of calories (around 200 per cookie - is that possible??) and so those are still around. When I lost weight the first time (in 2003) I simply didn't have that stuff in my house. Now that I live with someone, that isn't the case.

Exercise for me is key, tho. I have a very hard time sticking to 1600-1800 calories per day, so I need to exercise to get the extra room for food.

How are things going for you? You're going away next week, again, right?
