I'm 54 years old have been with SparkPeople for 3 years. I've learned over this time that I have more stamina than I ever thought possible to make so many healthy choices for myself.

I am married with 3 kids and have worked the overnight shift for 24 years. My kids are 21, 19 & 17 and it's all they've ever known. They've been busy with sports and school events and I've found that it's been so hard to keep up with everything for them and live healthy.

I've recently started a new phase of my life and started a year long training to become a Certified Health Coach with Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I am learning a ton of new things about healthy living and eating. I am looking forward to a new career to spread my healthy lifestyle to new people.

My husband, Ed, and I have 3 kids, 2 cats and 2 dogs.
I work the 3rd shift as a pharmacist.
I love to read and find that it's hard to balance my love of reading with my need for exercise. Since I work the night shift I have had trouble fitting exercise into my life on the days that I have to work and life interferes.

Hi Kelly,

Thanks so much for the tips pertaining to night shift work. What an excellent idea to combat child care costs by switching it up, so to speak! It's quite admirable to teach your children here's more then one "normal" in life. I was never taught it can be just as normal. Always lived on a pretty strict schedule- work, school, meals, etc. So this is different.

Trying to waste some time and just keep busy so I don't fall asleep to early today. Tried to nap yesterday and only lasted 3hrs. So last night was long. I also gotta figure out how to eat during nite hours - it was hard to want to eat so late. So didn't even make calorie range for day. Time will adjust all that, I know. Ear plugs are a great idea! Will have to get some.

To your question: I'm employed in airport security; independently of TSA thou. Have a great day!
