Kricky is DONE!!!

My name is Kristen and I'm from Houston!

I've been overweight my whole life and have to deal with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) and Insulin Resistance.

I am married to the man of my dreams and we have had fun sharing our life together. We both need to be in better shape but it's been hard for us to motivate each other.

My name is Kristen and I'm from Houston!

I've been overweight my whole life and have to deal with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) and Insulin Resistance.

I am married to the man of my dreams and we have had fun sharing our life together. We both need to be in better shape but it's been hard for us to motivate each other.

We also want to start a family in the near future and having PCOS which causes infertility problems, being overweight and practically being diabetic would not be healthy for me or a baby.

I am a graduate of the University of Houston with a music education major and am now teaching general (K--5th grade) music at a school in the Cy-Fair school district.

I am also a licensed massage therapist. I love to massage and make people feel better.

I have run in 2 5K's and one 10K. It was great for me to finish and strengthens my belief in myself. Running to me is almost meditative...as long as I can kick those negative voices in my head out.

I have come to realize, that nobody can do this for me--it's all effort on my part and I need blinding determination to do it to succeed.

I have fallen "off the wagon" a couple times since I really got serious (which was December '08) but the difference with this journey is I'm DONE, and I don't stay off the wagon long. It feels so much better to be healthy and to get my endorphin buzz.

I may be taking the slow path to becoming healthy, but it's the last time I'm going to travel down this path---I'm not going back!

Equiped with my gym membership, Polar F11 Heart Rate Monitor, my iPod and great friends on Spark People, and my Bodybugg, I'm going to get to the end in 2010!

12/29/09--Goals for weight loss

* Have a 1000 calorie deficit to burn 2 pounds a week
* Eat 1400 calories or less
* Get as close to my 10,000 steps as possible
* Keep up with Spark People and my Bodybugg system
* Add more strength training into my program

Other Goals--

Get DEBT FREE in 2010, we're 3/4 of the way done. Gazelle like intensity to the end!

My Goals:
I want to get healthy! I owe it to myself. I want to feel good about myself and not be at risk for things like heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes.

My Program:
I work out at 24 Hour Fitness and am making healthy food choices.

I do a combination of walking/jogging on the treadmill, swimming laps, sessions with a personal trainer, strength training and some spinning when I'm not too sore.

I also love Tracy Effinger's Squeeze series along with The Bar Method's Fat Free and Designer Sculpting.

I couldn't have done this without my Polar F11 Heart Rate Monitor--it helps me set fitness goals and work towards them.

I have now added the Bodybugg to my weight-loss arsenal (got it for Christmas 2009) and I think 2010 will be the year I get to my goal!

Personal Information:
I'm from Houston, Texas and have lived here pretty much my whole life. I am married to an amazing man, love to read and write and talk too!

Other Information:
I need to do this for me! I need to take time out of my day to spend some "me" time doing what I need to do--exercising and eating right!

Hey! Thanks for the comment on my blog about getting my boyfriend to workout and to stop buying the snack food. That's a REALLY good idea about offering incentives for working out. I'd probably only have to do that for about a month and then once he saw the results, he'll probably want to keep doing it for continued success.

Thanks so much for the wonderful massage. I highly recommend you! As for the ants, I have tried sprays, vinegar, talcum powder... I also need to be careful not to use too many chemicals because of me and my cat. So the ants appear every now and again... today in my utensils drawer (2-3 of them)... but hopefully will settle down.

ohhh!!! I think I'm off around then! And no. I don't think I run faster than u... I DID maybe, but not anymore.. I am about 41 min for my walk/run 5k.. best was 31 min... But I'd LOVE a photo finish with you!!!

Skootamatta Lake is also four hours away!!!! Know what I was thinking? I am thinking that you need to tell me those dates so I can make sure I have time off of work.. and I think that I should take a nice drive and come and see you! We should take pics and post them all over SP! Texas meets Canada! Do u run? If so we should find a 5k race in Niagra that has wine tasting afterwards! You don't have to run we can walk! OMG OMG OMG.. I'm soooo excited! woooo woooo wooo!
