I joined SP January 1, 2014 to try to take off all the weight I gained last year and to get healthier. I lost my job in 2012 and people have been cheering me up with sweets and I hope to get some positive encouragement here to eat healthier this year.

My first grandchild was born in December and my younger son got engaged and I want to be healthy so I can enjoy my growing family.

Thanks so much for the rainbow goodie - it was just what I needed. The surgery was a little bit of " touch & go " but in the end, our guy was a real fighter. He's home now & resting comfortably - I don't think he slept at all last night in the hospital. It looks like he'll be ok and we both thank you for your kindness.

Hi Christine. Thanks for your comments on my blog about reducing processed foods. After several years I finally convinced my husband, who has a family history of diabetes, to make his own iced tea.

My treadmill is my main means of exercising, although I'm trying to increase my strength training too. My goal is to walk 20-25 miles each week, and I am tracking it as a virtual walk the length of Britain, from Lands End in Cornwall to John O'Groats, Scotland. So far I've walked more than 725 miles, and have crossed the border into Scotland, approaching Edinburgh. My goal is to finish the walk by December 31/14.
