From a fatty to a featherweight

Joined this site and lost 15 pounds fall 2011 semester, getting myself to under 200 for the first time since my sophomore year of high school. I got distracted and too busy by finals and combined with Christmas break I put 5 back on.

I came back and tracked everything and stayed focused to what I was trying to achieve. I lost 30 pounds to get myself down to 170 at the end of spring semester, there's still some fat in my stomach area, but I wouldn't say I'm really overweight ...

I lost 30 pounds to get myself down to 170 at the end of spring semester, there's still some fat in my stomach area, but I wouldn't say I'm really overweight anymore.

I moved down south for a summer internship, found a local Gracie Barra Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gym and fell in love with it. Then I had to get my weight down so that I could weigh in under 150lbs. I accomplished this and officially became a featherweight!

Now I'm just trying to maintain in the low 150s. I'm lifting hard and wouldn't mind putting a few pounds of muscle back on, but its hard to overcome the mindset of how much I'm eating.

I think that's my biggest challenge. I need to go back to not caring so much about what I eat and simply enjoy life. I'm in shape now so I shouldn't have to worry about a burger or wings on the weekend. My having too much fun and drinking a lot at the bars is a flag tho against my diet.

I also have a binging monster I've been working to tame. And so the journey continues.

I feel so much better and its really all thanks to finding this site

My Goals:
Weigh in as featherweight at IBJJF Atlanta on September 15th 2012 *Success

Now I've just been working on finding a balance between enjoying life as a young person and staying healthy. Mentally, its more of a challenge than physically losing the weight ever was

My Program:
Check my trackers if you want to see specifics. Eating plenty of protein, lifting 3 days a week. Trying to get a run in on the weekends and also train 2-3 times a week.

Oh yeah, and somehow finding time to have fun with friends as well haha

Other Information:
Hey, I love talking to people on this site. What's worked, what hasn't. Motivation. Anything really. Feel free to send me a message at any time.

Hi, don't know how things work, I know you can change the grams of protein, carbs, etc. I haven't used the tracker yet with the new setting. Have a great one!! Great job on losing the weight and maintaining!

Hi saw your post on regarding the new tracker set up. You can change your nutrition goals on the page you track your food. So if you want to change your protein, carb set up you can..I checked it out after I read your post.

Ack! You mean anecdotes don't count?!? But, but, but... those are REAL stories from REAL people... the interwebs said so!

Sheesh - next you're going to be expecting folks to want evidence-based data to base their conclusions on...

Thanks for the goodie, and have a great weekend!

Hey man, it's totally science as long as you write it down! Maybe it is the whipped cream.

Hey,

Hope you're well!

emoticon for taking the time to stop by my emoticon blog!

I can't try your pancake recipe yet as I am on a Paleo challenge and all grains are forbidden. But I have written it down and I'll definitely try it out when I start reintroducing grains: it sounds delicicous!

Have a nice day xx
