Getting on Track

I love all living things: people, animals, and plants. I am an amateur herbalist, and love to cook with and use herbs for all sorts of things.

My weight gain has happened gradually, and I'm not starving myself to take it off. Exercise is key with me. As the grandmother of seven, I find that weight no longer bounces off like it once did. I actually wonder if I really should be the soft pillow my own grandmother was that made her hugs wonderful! Then I think about the health ...

My weight gain has happened gradually, and I'm not starving myself to take it off. Exercise is key with me. As the grandmother of seven, I find that weight no longer bounces off like it once did. I actually wonder if I really should be the soft pillow my own grandmother was that made her hugs wonderful! Then I think about the health challenges that presents, and I get "real."

I have several circles of friends: my church family, always the first friends wherever we move, my friends at the Bernina store where I used to work, my chorus friends (the source of the gold medal), my herb club and gardening friends, and the walking club that started me walking some 15 years ago. I talk about Spark People to all of them.

I have "go to recipes", have gone through most of mine and now zone in on "quick & easy" and "batch cooking/crockpot cooking". When I make the batch and crockpot recipes on a Sunday, the week really falls into place, especially on days that I employed outside the home.

Use a big calendar and put down your main meals, years ago I had 31 recipes and rotated it every month.

I grew up in Bethesda! Graduated from Walt Whitman High School. But my father was in the Navy so I also saw Norfolk and Coronado between my elementary school in Bethesda and 11th grade when we came back to this area. I met a friend of a new friend's friend's brother :-) the first week of 11th grade and he immediately asked, "Aren't you the one who threw up in 2nd grade?" That was me!

Hope you are doing well on the BL Challenge...just stopping by with a thought for the day and some encouragement from one of the LOVELY LIMES!

The only way you get that fat off is to eat less and exercise more.

I've realized that I'm more important than food is. I love a big slice of pizza, but I love myself more. Being thin is about changing the way you think about yourself. It's about saying that you deserve to be healthy.
