I am 67 years old. I've been divorced since 1999, after having brain surgery for a brain aneurysm and falling into a deep depression afterwards. I have 5 children. Michael is 45, Kendra is 43, Dan is 34, Joe is 29, Kate is 26. Between them, they have given me 12 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter! I love, love, love being a mom and a grandma!!! Both Kendra and Kate live in the same small town I live in...Kate is just across the parking lot from me! :-) All three boys live in the town/city just to our south...about 15 miles, so I am very fortunate to have them all so close!
I am an active member of Jesus! Assembly of God, have just become a "Senior Companion," which is a program where mobile seniors visit and help those not so fortunate. I have a Masters Degree in human services and Christian Ministries, and am looking forward to putting my education to work through this program.
I have tried many times to lose weight, though I would have to say my efforts have been -hearted. But 50th class reunion is coming up in August, and I am 100 pounds heavier than I was when I graduated high school. I really want to look better by then! And feel better too!

HI LADY, This is SHER. I am 56 years young and I read your story and I think I know what you need. lololol I have a room thats called SHER.RMA Pounds & sticks of butter. You can find this on my sparkpage along with other great rooms to help you through this. I was sick too. I felt sorry for myself too, here's what happened:
I was in college at age 55 when I went home one day feeling pretty sick. I had a cold and a cough that would not go away for about a month. I went home from school and was rushed to the hospital that everning with chest pains. I had tests done and was told I had a spot on my right lung. They did more testing and I was diagnosed with non-small cell cancer in my right Lung. They rushed and did surgery, they removed 2/3 rds of my right lung. Then I had the horrible, painfull terrible chemo, then the degrading hair loss. I started to feel sorry for myself, I thought I was gonna die, I thought my world as I knew it was over. But Guess what I did? I got up one day and took my butt back to school. I finished and graduated 2/2006 as a Registered Medical Assistant at age 56 and I am cancer free & smoke free as of 2+ years now. I gained alot of weight from chemo, so now I have to loose this weight so I dont get other illnesses that you can get from being over weight. So now I am here to get my bosy back. I am only 5'1" and I weight 203 pounds. Thats terrible for my size. So what I did was I made three(3) small goals to reach one(1) big goal. My first goal is called: Sher's christmas gift to herself. It is on my spark page if you would like to join it. I want to loose as close as I can get to my goal on christmas day. I also have another room called: SHER'sPounds & sticks of butter room. There are 4 sticks to one pound of butter, so for each pound you loose, you also loose 4 sticks of butter. Then I have a workout room. you would love this room. Its motivating and fun. You can start off with the same exersize I started with. I would lay in bed on my side, move my legs, turn to the other side, move your legs. You can do bed exersixe to start. Then when you are sitting in a chair, Move your arms, do pelvic exersize, there are many things you can do in bed, in a chair and also hold on to a chair and move your lege and arms. Then when your ready, take 5 minute walks, the after a few weeks, do 10 minute walks. Or if you have stairs, go up and down a few times each day and then do more after a few weeks. I can help you do this. I will be here every day to help you ok? If you need me I will be here. We both can do this. Are you ready? Then let's begin.

hi lady meg . I read your title I need you and felt led to say Im here if you need me there is a great group of women on can we pray that are very encouraging....just wanted you to know there are lots of women who care. for your thoughts....I tried curves when I was over 300 and it was not for me it hurt my knees the wieght of the machines did me more bad than good ....if you stick to your spark calories the wieght will come off as well as maybe the ymca in your area going into a wading pool and moving around thats what I did and im at 270 now so....YOU CAN DO THIS love Jen
