I have to say the last couple of years have been quite a ride� with 2011 seeing me get very close to my number on the scale goal, and getting stronger with awesome training� then I hit a wall. I over trained myself getting ready for an event, and suffered 2 personal losses of good friends. All of which overloaded my system and pretty much laid me out flat for a year.
2012 saw many changes and adjustments, the best of which was having my Awesome Husband transition from tavelin� guy to staying at home guy! YAY! But the years of travel, bad eating, wonky sleep patterns and overall massive amounts of stress took their toll on him as well and he too got laid out flat.
Suffering is the sandpaper of our life. It does its work of shaping us. Suffering is part of our training program for becoming wise.
So the focus has been on recovery � and life has felt a little lopsided, because many habits and tasks fell to the wayside in favor or rest and recovery. It was necessary and welcome, but it also left me feeling like I missed out on a year of my life. It was the sandpaper that shaped me.
Now the focus is on rebuilding. Rebuilding better habits, balance, relationships, health, endurance, margin. Taking babysteps, not over overdoing, but finding the narrow space of doing just enough. Focus on polishing the rough spots and rediscovering joy.

Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead.

I decreed 2009 to be the year I got comfortable with being UN-comfortable and it didn't let me down. Any time I felt myself getting lulled into complacency or comfort, I paid the price. Energy took a nose dive, weight went up, mental and physical strength suffered.
In 2010, I resolved to get brilliant with the basics - nothing extreme, nothing outrageous, just doing what works. Eat real food, lift heavy, move fast, rest, learn, grow.
When I put myself into an uncomfortable place - I paid the price as well, and progress was made!
I learned a lot about myself over the past few years and now I'm looking foward to building on that knowledge and pushing myself even further out of my comfort zone than before.
I haven't reached all the goals I set for myself in the past, but it doesn't mean I've given up on them. I've just changed the date, and keep pressing on.

I have grown and learned a lot. Part of that growth, and most of my progress, has been made when going through change, and that change is uncomfortable.
When I get comfortable, I stop growing, I get stagnant and I, sometimes, slide back to old ways. When I open myself to new opportunities, to change, I grow. I push the boundaries of my life. I become a better me. It also means going to a place of unknown, and uncertainty, and that can be uncomfortable.
I'm ready to spread my wings and fly. I'm ready to discover what life has in store for me and what I can do to make myself the best me I can. I'm ready to get comfortable with discomfort to learn, to grow, to FLY!

True commitment is serious and it is powerful. Commitment is not just saying you'll do it. Commitment is doing it. True
commitment is not conditional, for to be committed means to be absolutely committed. Not just doing something when it's convenient. Commitment is more than doing just what is convenient or comfortable. Commitment is doing what is necessary. Commitment is making the sacrifices and tradeoffs that are required to uphold it. Commitment is more than just wishing for the right conditions. Commitment is working with what you have.
Commitment is not easy. Commitment does not back down or run away at the first sign of trouble. Commitment perseveres until the goal is reached. Commitment does not waste time and effort whining or complaining or seeking to find blame. Commitment adjusts to reality and moves forward.
Too many people have been deceived for too long, and have
come to expect that they can know fulfillment without the tough effort of commitment. They are sadly mistaken. Real, solid commitment is real work. And well worth it. The evidence is overwhelming -- it gets results like nothing else can.
So, are you just "interested" in achieving good physical
health? Or are you COMMITED in the pursuit of good physical, mental and spiritual health?
If you're commited, you'll get rid of EXCUSES. You will think
outside of your "box" and win over the "committee" meetings more often than not.
If you're just "interested" in being in good shape, then,
whenever the wind changes directions, so will you.
Thankfully we all have CHOICES. Everyday we get to make
choices and at any time we can decide what choices we'll make and the impact they will have on our goals.
Don't give up! Baby Steps work! Don't try and solve World
Peace in a day or get to goal weight in a month. This is a
journey and who you become along the way. Be open to learning, it helps with frustration levels.
Believe in Yourselves!

Scale wise, it'd be nice to see 140# again, but my overall goal is to get closer to optimal health, healing my adrenal/chronic fatigue and thyroid issues to have my outsides and insides feel awesome all the time!
Taking the simple, 'back to basics' approach, creating a sustainable lifestyle:
-Eat *real* food (food that's been grown on or in the ground, not in a lab)
- Move till I sweat with HIIT workouts - Cardio or weight based
- Lift heavy things & put them down (CrossFit Rules!)
- Daily mental training
-Sleeping 7+ hours a night
-Believing with all my heart and soul that not only /can/ I achieve this, but I /deserve/ to live a full, healthy, energetic life.
I'm a fabulous 40 'mom' of 3 fur-babys (kittys & a pup) and married (squee!!!) to fabulous man living in Tucson, Arizona!
