Updated November 25th , 2016:
Welcome to my page. I've been on this journey for a while now. I'm not in any rush. This is a lifestyle change and I want to make sure that my weight loss is permanent. I've been on diet after diet, year after year since I was a teenager. I'm currently at the lowest weight since 1978. So I'm thrilled with that. It's been a long hard journey.
I have multiple health issues which I deal with on a daily basis and that have placed limitations on what I can do physically. Nine years ago next week I died from complications of gallbladder surgery and was blessed to have been given a second chance on life. The CPR messed up my already screwed up back even more. I was at my heaviest. I decided to make life worth living again. Small changes over time helped correct 50+ years of bad habits.
I have asthma, allergies, fibromyalgia, arthritis in just about every joint (moderately severe in both hips), bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome, Raynaud's syndrome, migraine headaches - which were chronic and daily up until just recently, I have two screws in my left knee, my right knee hyper-extends, high blood pressure & cholesterol which is under control of medication, non insulin dependent diabetic which is almost under control - I still need to work on it a little more, macular degeneration in my left eye, have episodes of temporary blindness at random times, bioplar 2 depressive with panic attacks when I have trouble breathing, PTSD and I'm a super klutz.
I've had an insane year starting last January when my Dad who's 86 and has Alzheimers fell and had a brain bleed. I've spent time helping my youngest brother care for him in their home on Florida's space coast. My other brother, who had a quadruple bypass in June 2009 had three more blockages this past April but they were taken care of with stents and one balloon opening of the artery. He lives in NE Tennessee, so I've spent time with him also. Then my 88 year old Aunt had a heart attack on June 1st. Luckily she lives less than 1/2 mile from me so I can walk over to help her. So it's been super stressful. Top that with the daily migraines I've been having since last October and it's been very trying. With the process of elimination I learned that my Trileptal for my daily migraine preventive was one of the causes of the increased migraines. The second was my Lamictal for my bipolar depression - which I finally threw a fit at the doc's office and flat out told him no more I quit it. I'm now on 1/2 Zoloft 25mg a day and feel so much better. I've been migraine free for 62 days. Then I had a migraine. I had to quit the Zoloft on September 27th, 2016 because of multiple side effects. I am having all sorts of problems with being tired and hurting constantly. I am getting over a bad case of athletes foot in early October. Anything g that touches my arms leave horrible reddish purplish blackish blotches on my arms. I've been extremely klutzy lately.
Stress central with Hurricane Matthew at my Dad's house right after we left Florida. They were in the eyewall. Then my Dad falls and has a brain bleed in the same location as he did in January. So I guess stress has taken its toll on me. Two months until Christmas weekend when my brother is taking me to Florida for January. That should be interesting.
I understand the trials and problems associated with weight loss especially if you're suffering from depression. I do my best to help anyone that needs help or encouragement. If you need a friend, just stop by and leave me a message. I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
I'm fixing to leave Christmas weekend to go to my brother's house in Tennessee for a few days. Then on December 31st we start four weeks in New Smyrna beach FL on the beach. It's my Christmas present from my brother this year. Can't wait
Remember that each day is a gift from God and cherish all your memories, friends and family.
There's no magic number I want to be. I just want to be healthier today than I was yesterday. Yes I want to lose weight but I want to live my life each day as best as I can.
Walking at least 10,000 steps per day.
Using Leslie Sansone walk at home videos
Go hiking whenever possible.
Walk my dog, Precious, as much as possible.
Work on incorporating more into my life
I turned 61 on 9/16/15. I have a 24 year old son.
A couple weeks after my 50th birthday my husband died of a massive heart attack. Got re-married and divorced in short order two years later. Now I'm single and loving life, one day at a time.
When my hands cooperate, I like to knit or crochet. I love to read. I love to bake and cook. I go crazy at Christmas time making all sorts of goodies as gifts for family and friends.
I'm a genealogy nut and currently working on multiple lines in mine and my son's families.
Today is the first day of the rest of your life so make the most of it.
In November 27, 2007 I weighed my heaviest at 278 pounds .
Here are my goals for my weight:
These are weights from back in the 1970s when I last saw them. I can't wait to see them again!
198 pounds last saw in 1978
178 pounds back in 1976 (back before my migraines were diagnosed and I started on all these different meds)
154 pounds at graduation June 7, 1972
My goal weight according to my BMI is under 145. I'm not sure how this will play out but I'm wanting to get down to my graduation weight at least.
