For those of you who know me, my mom Debi passed away on Tuesday morning, January 31st, 2017. She was 61 and in a lot of pain, so I'm glad she is at peace.

I'm Diane, also known as Rissa. I am on disability for bipolar and other issues, but I volunteer at a local low income clinic and try and walk every day. I can't wait until I can run again.. I used to run Cross-Country and was doing 5k's on hills in 33 minutes. I live in Miami now, but I am originally from Los Angeles. I love hills, but there are none here.

I managed to maintain my weight in 2016, but in the 230's. My goal in 2017 will be to see the scale go down and stay down. I'm going to walk more, and want to finally do an official 5k. I can't see Onderland, but I want to get there by the end of the year. I have been stuck in the 230's for over a year, getting as low as 231 and as high as 239. I am in the Cloverleafs for the Winter 5% challenge, and they have motivated me and helped me get into the low 230's and hopefully by the end of the challenge I will be finally under 230 again! I did get as low as 211, but I have backslid. My highest weight was in the 280's, so I have lost over 50 pounds with Spark People!

My Goals:
I would like to be in the 160 pound range, and to be able to run a 5k again. My ultimate goal is to do a marathon.

My Program:
I have been working on eating low sugar and low calorie things... the doctor said my blood sugar is borderline diabetes and I have a fatty liver, I'm hoping they go away as I get closer to my goal.

Rissa, thanks for dropping by my sparkpage! It's been wonderful working with you on the In-Between Challenge Team. Hoping we get the chance to do that again!

Don't you hate it when it double-posts!!! When you use the back-space, to leave a sparkpage, it double-posts for some reason. You have to go up to the top, to go somewhere else on sparkpeople, to avoid that.

Have a wonderful day, my friend!

emoticon in a HUGE emoticon to the LEADAH CIRCLE !!! emoticon

emoticon SO MUCH For leading the emoticon into the BREAK so they can stay accountable, which in turn helps YOU to be.

Here's some "IT CAN BE DONE" to help you stay motivated. in 2016 I weighed in at 246 on Jan 1st. In 2014 I had a foot surgery were the surgeon did NOT do as my Dr and I talked about ,,, the amputate the big toe on the left foot. I had been dealing with ulcers after ulcers over the 10ish years. Which at that time had meant a skin graft which had FINALLY healed the one at that time. In 2015 it had again opened in May. I was put on antibiotics, but they didn't work. I was sent to the CDC office in Portland (yes that CDC ,, Center For Disease Control I had NOT been out of the country) I had an IV done 2 times a day at home for 3 weeks, it still would NOT heal and it still wasn't identified as to what bacteria was causing it. Back the surgeon who had done the surgery stating in 2014 "I CAN SAVE IT !" as he were HE MAN ! He took out a screw and the plate he had put in (originally it was supposed to come out, but than he had decided since I had such a hard with healing,, which included while in the cast breaking a bone in that area) to just that much. Leaving a screw in the bone to the toe which was to fuse the bones together. My foot Dr had called him "Telling" him she wanted BOTH screws along with the plate taken out. He simply DID NOT listen to her. Of course the infection was getting worse. Three weeks later she (my foot Dr who had sworn she'd not do any more surgeries on my feet,,,, this one made #21 of them) went in herself and took the dang screw out. It DID have bacteria on it,,,, and that is why it had stayed infected at that point we were in the end of July, I'd had the infection for almost 4 months. I was sent to the Wound Clinic in Mercy hospital. Right off they had me come in for 6 weeks Mon thru Fri to be in the hyperbaric oxygen chamber. It did increase the oxygen in my blood and the white cells did FINALLY what was needed so badly,,, it HEALED the dang infection. The ulcer though would simply not heal. They had been trying since Aug of 2015 and in Sept of 16 it was concluded they had done that was possible. I was beyond exhausted from going there at first daily for 6 weeks,,, after 2 to 3 times a week for the most part going into casts,,, out,,, back in,,, out ,in etc. They even did tested out a new type of cast which was supposed to be lighter and create quicker healing,,,, they wouldn't try it on others when it did me no good. It was amputated by a different foot surgeon in the end of Oct. Three weeks later I was able to FINALLY start to walk,,, and WALK I HAVE !!

BUT !! Even being in casts in Jan last year,, I had BEGGED AND BEGGED to be allowed to exercise. It was agreed I could slowly start to using my knee walker,,,, as we saw the weight starting to come off,,,,, everyone was so much more encouraged, I was given the allowance to use my knee walker as MUCH as I WANTED !! I haven't stopped since other than for a week after the amputation. Now the only reason I've written this out is so that Rissa, if you start to get discouraged,,, have days (not one day, but starting to slow down because of just not wanting to,, which I DOUBT you will go through) that you can see MANY of us,, no doubt you also have overcome some big obstacles placed in front of us,,,, and just keep a going gal ! I also saw a nutritionist in Aug who has tweaked my calories. I need to go again so we can again.

I made my 5% goal in the Winter Challenge (a little over 12 lbs) again in the Spring (A little over 11) I did miss it by 2 lbs for the Summer Challenge,,, i was NOT eating enough,,, and made it again in the Fall. At the end of Dec, I had HIT ONEDERLAND AND was at 195 !! WOOHOOO So YES your goal is VERY Reasonable !

YOU GO GAL !! TY SO MUCH For sharing with us what you've been through.
