I've been a member here for quite a few years and when I come here consistently I do well! Very Well!

So much has changed in my life in the time since I joined...

My father passed away the day after Christmas

I had to put my mother in a care facility for Alzheimers this past spring. Sold her house, Sold all her belongings.

A couple years ago...
My 17 year old was diagnosed with AML leukemia in March of 2011. She underwent intensive chemotherapy which kept her in the hospital nearly full time for 7 months (she would have a week or 2 break in between the 4 rounds of chemo). And I sat with her as often as I could.

I also commuted back and forth to our home 70 miles away where my 16 year old was pretty much fending for herself. Luckily we had a strong church family that made sure she always had food, a fresh cassarole or over for full meal.

And I stress ate. Often.

My daughter is healthy now and in remission. Both my daughters are in college and on their way to good lives.

And now myself. As I re-embark on this journey I am thankful you are all here with me!

My original Intro:
[I'm a 44 year old single mother of 2 girls, 14 and 15. I'm heavier now than when I was pregnant, but that's ok...I know where some of my weight came from and although it's not the norm to say was worth it because I QUIT SMOKING! 20 years, pack and 1/2 a day. It's been 2 years and I've been trying (ok yes off and on) to get the rest of the smoking damage undone...the quit-weight and get healthier...aka: in shape. I work in animal nutrition, you'd think I'd be able to manage my own nutrition! But that's been the hard part so far...I'm always hungry, my metablolism is wack, and no exercise I've tried so far makes the scale budge or clothes fit different. I know giving up isn't going to get the weight off so I'll keep trying and trying and trying no matter what. So in the words of Mario...Here we gooooooo!]

Maquoketa Iowa is where I call home. We're a small town with heart.

I'm single and frankly tired of it at the moment.
Both my girls are in college now which has also cut into the budget a bit. So I've also combined my efforts here with SparkSave for my finances.

Other Information:
My biggest hurdle is cardio. Hard to get motivated to not be able to breath! Hard to find something I like.

I actually GAINED weight after I came's the calories...I'm JUST HUNGRY! But that got better after a few weeks and now my journey is on its way
