I am a mother of 4, married since 1986 and in need of a serious makeover.

My Health Journey

I'm starting this journey for the one hundred and first time it seems. I've always had a little weight problem, but I was able to keep it in check in high school. After I got married that changed. I began gaining weight when my husband went to basic training, about 14 pounds, and I kept telling myself "I'll get it back off soon". But that didn't happen before I gained more weight being alone all the time while he worked such long hard hours at training school.

Then I gave birth to twins weighing in at over 9 lbs. each I kept an added 30 lbs after that and I weighed in at 174. Two more babies over 9 lbs and my weight was up to almost 200. After that I couldn't blame my pregnancies, I added another 35lbs. During those 23 years I tried many ways of weight loss, none very successfull, not for long anyway.

I have decided that it is time to get very serious about becoming a healthy person. I KNOW what I am suppose to do nutrition and fitness wise, I just need to discover HOW to implement what I know.

So TODAY is the beginning of My Health Journey. I am creating a new attitude to go with the knowledge I already have and inviting My LORD in on this journey with me. I can do all things through HIM....

Update 1/8/15

I have been inconsistent. I am sad about that. BUT...Life has given me some strong motivation to get healthy and fit.
My middle daughter got married in Jan and had our first grandson in November.
My middle son married a young lady who already had 2 daughters.
So I am a Grandma!!
Also, my dad needs someone in his life to be a good health example for him, he is not doing well. I want to be that person.

New update 7/3/16
I've had a rough year and a half. My husband said he is no longer attracted to me last May (2015) after many years of struggles. So, we separated. It's been VERY rough, but a time of growing. I have gone down and up in my weight over that time.
Today I start a new weight loss journey and I'm putting my money where my mouth is. I have made a bet that I can lose 50 pounds in 6 months. I have a chance to more than double my money which will help pay for the Disney World trip with my son's family!
I now have 4 grandchildren and a 5th on the way!!!

I have joined the Fall 5% Challenge. My exercise and nutrition goals are below.

*Have a green smoothie 3-4 times a week. Eggs 4-5 x week
*Drink 8-10 cups of water daily and add hot lemon water and a fiber drink with ACV
*Follow Extreme Weightloss exercise plan
*Keep working on hooping
*Use rebounder for 10 min. daily
*Track my food (no matter what I eat)!
* Eat at least 4 Fruit/Veggies a day.
*Walk 60-90 min 2 x week

Lose 5 lbs check ;)

I am utilizing Sparkpeople to track calories and exercise.

My motivation:
***** We are going to Disney World (3 of my "kids", and 4 of my grands!) in late November*****
(I want to be under 180 lbs and able to walk all day with them!!! )

1) My dad won't eat right, exercise or lose weight if I don't lead the way.
2) I want to be able to be active with those little ones in the summer and for decades to come.
3) I want to be proud of the person I see in the mirror!

    Hello Laura! I loved your intro!. For years I have beat out anyone on pregnancy birth weight with a son that was 10 lbs 11 and another over 9. I seriously bow down low and hand that title to you!     I was checking out the 5% Challenge team sign-ups and noticed you suggested the Cloverleaf Team so came to say Hi! I'm a Cloverleaf. I've been part of several Challenges but took a 4 year break and just finished the summer one. I found these Challenges essential to my weight loss success.

    So sorry to read your granddaughter is having heart surgery. It's hard to watch young ones go through anything medical, but heart sounds extra serious. Praying for her and the family.

    Hope they put you on the Cloverleafs. Best wishes if you end up on another team. Never know how people in Any Team will be placed to keep things balanced. We should know in the next week or so.
