Update, August 2015: Hello, everyone! Thank you for all of your kind comments. Almost 10 years since I began my quest to become healthy and I'm still maintaining a nearly 100-pound weight loss. I joined a gym in late November 2006, and started SparkPeople in the beginning of January 2007. I lost the first 50 pounds very quickly and 30 more after going vegan. I''ve avoided all meat and dairy products for about five years now, and I feel great! I''ve been maintaining 190 pounds for over two years. I''d like to burn another 20-30 pounds and build some muscle.

I wrote an essay that is now featured in SparkPeople''s motivational articles section! I have it listed under my favorites if you want to check it out. :)

- Kettlebells class 3-4 times a week (60 minutes) each.

- Running 2-3 times a week, usually 2-3 miles at a time.

- Not counting calories at the moment, but I'm being mindful of what I eat and paying close attention to my body's signals for fullness/hunger.

Thank you for sharing your story. This quote really resonated for me: "Despite the difficulty, it was important to me that I did it alone. I needed proof of my sustainability.
