Time for a positve, lasting change!

This is so hard. Limiting food is very difficult when so much of my day revolves around food. Snacks at work. Lunch out with the girls. Lazy dinner in front of TV while watching DVR. Snacks while playing around on computer.

Being overweight is even harder. Clothes are too tight or just don't look right. Self-confidence is low. Blood pressure is high.

Being overweight is even harder. Clothes are too tight or just don't look right. Self-confidence is low. Blood pressure is high.

Over past few years, I have started and stopped the Spark People program at least 4 or 5 times. I always gave up! It was embarrassing to record how much food I consumed each day. But, this time, it hit me - if I am ashamed to write down how much I eat, maybe I should eat less and/or eat better. Viola! Problem solved. Well, at least a start to solving the problem. Losing weight is not going to automatically boost my confidence and make me feel better about myself. It is a step in the right direction!

My Goals:
Goal #1 - Lose 60 pounds

Goal #2 - Get back into those really nice business dress suits that have been hanging in the closet for the past 10 years.

Goal #3 - Have more energy, lower blood pressure, and a sparkle in my eye!

My Program:
Each day, I carefully plan my food. I read labels more than I ever have before. I calculate calories not only their "suggested serving size" but also a realistic serving size that will satisfy my hunger without going overboard.

If I think I am hungry, I do something to distract myself to see if the urge to eat goes away. If not, I have a piece of fruit or start preparing my meal. If it does, I reward myself with a pep talk and a clean home.

Over the next few weeks, I will add more and more physical activity - walking my dog, using the treadmill while watching a favorite show, using hand weights as I dance around to 80's music, and using my Ab Lounger as I watching TV or Hulu.

Welcome! If you need a shoulder, a friend or a virtual coffee at some point, drop by and say hello! I've just celebrated my SP eleven month anniversary and am amazed at the absolutely incredible amount of support I've received for weight loss and so much more. This is a fabulous site and you will be astounded at what you get out of it if you give it your all.

To celebrate your arrival at SP in this late-summer season, I would like to wish you a everlasting renewal of energy and passion, for this is a time to celebrate the great potential you possess. May the sun shine upon you and fire up your heart to reach all of your goals and find joy in yourself and the world around you. Whatever battles you are fighting, whatever stresses may come your way, may you find energy, confidence, vitality and strength. This is the time to shine bright and show the world how beautiful you are. Embrace the summer-lit brilliance of each day and you will create a new life where all your wildest dreams come true. ~ Michelle
