journey back to a healthy me

I am 54 year old and I am a wife and a mother of 5 beautiful daughters. Grand-mother to 8 beautiful grand-children. I have been keeping 15 pounds from each pregnancy. I have lost the same 60 pounds 4 times now and I am making this the last time. My blood pressure is high and is controlled right now by medication. I would like to lower it to get off said meds. I want to lower it without medication.

Update March 14 2015.

I am vegan since the beginning of the year and my food intake is great. I have lost 30 pounds so far. Exercise every day. At my last medical exam, I was on the road to diabetes and my level of cholesterol was out of control. That scared me to death. I want to be a healthy full of life old woman. I am taking care of my body. It has nothing to do with vanity anymore. Focus is easier to keep when you think of your health instead of your looks.


Update December 30th 2008.
I have changed my profile picture as I decided to stop hiding behind my cat. :) This is me at 247.5. I have gained back 28 pounds. I am not proud of it but I know what to do.
Starting January 1st, I am back on track.
I NEED to lose this weight, once and for all.
Fit by fifty. That gives me 2 full years to lose 68 pounds. I don't think it is a far out goal.
Update April 14 2009.
I have changed my profile picture once again. I am at 255.
Update April 30 2010.
I am very motivated and doing all I need to do to get to my healthy weight.

Manon T is your neighbour!? Imagine that!
I hear you about the gym membership. I bought a 10 visit card for $75 just before Xmas when the weather started to get bad. I'm glad I did. Sometimes the weather is just too crazy for walking the country roads in Mayo. Freezing rain, for example, is the worst! And frostbite isn't much better.
Have fun X-country skiing. I had some skis but never used them so gave them away. They were hand-me-downs from a friend and quite old as well as slightly too long for me.
