We are our own truth & light...
Hello! I'm a 25 year old college student in Milwaukee in my final year of undergrad as a Psych major. Most people always ask why I'm on a "diet" (their words when I choose healthier options or decline drinks) or why I exercise a lot when they say that I am skinny to begin with. Hello! I'm a 25 year old college student in Milwaukee in my final year of undergrad as a Psych major. Most people always ask why I'm on a "diet" (their words when I choose healthier options or decline drinks) or why I exercise a lot when they say that I am skinny to begin with. Yes, it is true that I am at a fairly decent weight for my body & height. Health-wise though I am a lovely mess. Food has always been an issue for me. I was tested positive for various food allergies & sensitivities when I was younger. Throughout the years & especially in the last year, I started to see how each of them affect me. Now I am slowly starting to change my eating choices & habits to exclude the worst ones as much as possible. The difficult part is maintaining a balanced, healthy intake of everything I need throughout the day. Body-wise I have exercise-induced asthma, feet that flatten & over-pronate when I walk, & Narcolepsy. My asthma has always hindered me with exercise. I could never do the various runs in school & while I was on the swim team for a year, I could never be too aggressive with my heats. Get my breathing above a certain level & I can literally feel my lungs & veins constricting. :) Since leaving high school I stuck to "lighter" work-outs: belly dancing, yoga, cardio machines at lighter paces. While these can be great, they don't get my heart rate up. Only recently have I started to push myself to build my endurance by slowly increasing my heart rate. So yes, while I am skinny & look healthy, I can feel in my body that it is not in its best shape at all. This is my journey to re-claim that, re-learning eating & fueling it with things it can tolerate instead of what sounds good, & to increase my strength & cardiovascular health. Those changes mean the world to me & are my motivation compared to losing weight. More about me: Music is my life, and my family and friends come in close second. I have a very easy-going, laid back personality about life; loving everyone and appreciating all of our differences, learning lessons that you can't be taught firsthand, and keeping an open mind about our culture, our world, and our life in general. I am forever on a quest to better understand and know myself, and to become the best me I can be. I love fruit, yoga, summer, relaxing, swimming, dancing, and hanging out with friends.
