leelynn is in maintenance

Welcome to my site.

I am currently several months into maintenance. I decided that I would start losing weight on April 12, 2007 at 235 lbs, and officially declared myself in maintenance in April 2008.

Welcome to my site.

I am currently several months into maintenance. I decided that I would start losing weight on April 12, 2007 at 235 lbs, and officially declared myself in maintenance in April 2008.

I moved to the majestic and unique Telluride, CO in Sept of 07 after living in the Columbia River Gorge for 12 years. I'm currently working as water system and maintenance personnel for local subdivision. I wish to be like the turtles and the mayflies in the pond that do not worry about their roles in society; to know that it is enough to enjoy the sun on my back and a good meal. I find that the more I can identify with being a fellow animal on this beautiful planet of ours rather than a human the more comfortable I am in my own skin.

Weight wise I've lost 80 lbs. I'm 5' 8" with a medium to large build. I feel like I have become consistent with the social norm here in CO. I'm proud that I have passed the obese mark, and the overweight mark, and am within the SP's calculator's healthy BMI range, and that I'm wearing size 12 jeans, which means I've exceeded my original weight loss goals.

I appreciate each and every SP friend that has helped me reach this point. It is so good to know that these tools are here and will continue to be into the future, though I'm confident in my skills and think that I fully understand how to eat normally to keep myself healthy and at a reasonable weight.

"Motivation is not something you find or lose, have or don't have. It is the product of how you see yourself in the world: active or passive, effective or ineffective, powerful or victimized, normal or pathological."

Chickpea to Cook

A chickpea leaps almost over the rim of the pot
where it's being boiled.

"Why are you doing this to me?"

The cook knocks him down with the ladle.

"Don't you try to jump out.
You think I'm torturing you.
I'm giving you flavor,
so you can mix with spices and rice
and be the lovely vitality of a human being.

Remember when you drank rain in the garden.
That was for this."

The cook says,
"I was once like you,
fresh from the ground. Then I boiled in time,
and boiled in the body, two fierce boilings.

My animal soul grew powerful.
I controlled it with practices,
and boiled some more, and boiled
once beyond that,
and became your teacher".

My Goals:
Things that I want....

Long Term:
I want to feel professional when I do my job.

I want my daughter to have healthy habits so that she doesn't struggle with her weight the way I do.

I want eat a sustainable diet. to grow a portion of my food and feel the rhythm of the seasons through what I eat.

I want to have lots of energy and to enjoy or try new activities

I want to feel centered and mindful.

I want to not obsess over what I have eaten, what I am eating, and what I'm going to eat, or how much I weigh and how much I'm going to weigh, and for my body to settle at some comfortable sustainable weight.

To maintain my new weight indefinitely

Medium Term:
I'm shooting for being less than 200 lbs and being able to fit into my size 16 jeans. (Met 9/07)

165 and size 14 jeans? (Met 2/08)

150 and size 12 jeans? seems unlikely (size 12 met 3/08)

size 10 Carharts (met 9/08, and still met 9/09

My Program:
My plan is to avoid baked goods, sugar, and flour, and to eat mainly fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and meat. I prefer to know where my food comes from and to choose local, natural, and cruelty free products whenever possible.

Exercise:
10 minutes a day exercising minimum.

Take advantage of living in Telluride, and tear up the slopes in the winter and hike the mountains the rest of the time.

Personal Information:
I have a husband of 21 years, a 20 year old son and a 15 year old daughter, a cat and a quaker parrot. I believe that making my community the kindest, safest, most inclusive it can be is the best that I can do in saving the world.

My folks have an incredible yard in Pasco and have been composting for 50 years. They have been sharing with me since I have no good soil up here in West Richland and delivered a pickup truck load this morning, in 5 gallon buckets! It's as good as gold and going to do wonders for the trees I planted a couple of years ago. I am so excited about it!
I added you as a friend. I hope that is alright with you.
Take care,
Cindy

DH was behind me when i typed the previous message, and he tought it was my page and that I had uploaded some pictures of the area where we go skiing, and asked when I took them.
So Jeff told me to write you "Bonjour, you live in a beautiful area. I love your pics." (I showed him the other pictures of your area.)

Thought of you when skiing today. I wish you could be with us!
It was a bit windy, but the sky was beautiful.
