I'm just using this site to maintain a balance in my life, get physically fit, help my motivation, find support, keep moving, stay informed . . . all that good stuff and more.
It doesn't matter how long it takes me. I will succeed, and I will never give up the healthy habits that I am building along my road to create and maintain wellness as well as self care.
1. Become physically active
2. Remain mentally active
3. Acquire healthier eating habits (Done, mostly)
4. Lose my baby weight (basically, done)
5. Attain my pre-medication weight
6. Start martial arts again
7. Start kickboxing
8. Get back to the gym regularly (goal of at least 10 minutes daily, 30 to 60 ideally)
Nutrient dense eating -- lots of fresh vegetables and fruits, moderate amount of soy, about a cup or so of some type of legume (bean, lentil, etc.) a day, emphasis on whole foods diet. All vegan most of the time, working to become more consistent in this lifestyle. If any grains are part of my diet, I try my best most of the time to make them whole grains. I am also trying to turn that into a one-serving-a-day event at most (and reduced overall).
I am still working on incorporating regular physical activity into my lifestyle. It is always a work in progress.
Note: I started Pilates with a one-on-one class two days a week. I'm loving it, and it's helping me keep focused.
I'm a birth mom of a (thank God) healthy baby boy named David Christopher.
I'm also married to David's daddy, Chris. We got married on April 10, 2010. Our son was born just about two weeks later on April 24, 2010.
I used to be working on a special education credential, which it seems I won't be able to complete. I'm looking into other possibilities in the meantime.
When one door closes, another one opens.
Last year, we became separated and also have had to give our son over to foster parents. The decision has been for him to be adopted by these people. I am truly honored to have been in his life during the beginnings. He will always be my son, and I want to be healthy and strong in myself whenever he might get older and come looking for me as an adult or a teenager. I don't want him to see a mother who does not take care of herself. I want him to know that I gave him up to be adopted out of love and wanting the best for him.

My favorite exercise ever used to be martial arts and kickboxing. I hope to get back to that. I've also discovered I really like jazz and Latin dance, so I'm hoping to acquire that as one of my active hobbies. In addition, I have enjoyed greatly many types of yoga, particularly Power (or Ashtanga) yoga as well as Iyengar and prenatal yoga.
