Lindenheart goes Healthy

I've been fighting to stay fit for a good 10 years now. I say fighting because I grew up in a household where you ate in excess and the food was usually covered in a cheese, cream, or other such sauce. I am not predisposed to eating healthy and staying active, but I choose to incorporate these into my lifestyle.

I say fighting because I grew up in a household where you ate in excess and the food was usually covered in a cheese, cream, or other such sauce. I am not predisposed to eating healthy and staying active, but I choose to incorporate these into my lifestyle.

About 10 yrs ago, I went from 175# to 145# during 6 months of complete focus on losing weight. The problem is that I didn't really change my lifestyle, I just learned how to lose weight. So for 10 years, I've bounced between 140-150 pounds with occasional dips into the 130's and occasional rises to 160. I have finally decided that enough is enough. I don't want a closet full of 3 sizes of pants. I don't want to pick things from my closet based on the size I am on a given day. I want consistency. I want true change.

Since February 2011, that is what I have been doing. Slowly I formed new habits. Over time, I have been reinforcing those habits. A "cheat" or "skipped workout" is not something that breaks those habits, I have learned to view those things as the exceptions and not the rule. It is still a journey. There are still new habits to create and reinforce. There are other habits that need broken and replaced, but for the first time in 10 years, I actually feel like I'm on the road to healthy and not on a diet.

Personal Information:
I made a conscious effort to incorporate movement into my life in October 2010. I workout twice a week with a friend, joined a yr-round volleyball league, and take dance lessons. I've found I have more energy now than when I was a couch potato!

Other Information:
LOVES:
volleyball, yoga, strength-training, knitting, ballroom dancing, and walking

HATES: flabby arms and cookies

Just got back from Maui. We had the most fabulous time - but I'm so ready to get back on my meal plan and back to the gym. My body craves it! How are you doing with married life?
