Lin's Quest for a Healthier Life

I am 69, retired and a couch potato. I am diabetic. Heart disease runs in my family and was the c.o.d. of both my parents and a brother. Four other siblings have also had heart problems. I want to lose weight so I can ward off health problems and hopefully be around to see my grandchildren grow up. I am an avid reader- reading at least 4 books a week - and also love needle crafts such as cross-stitching and crocheting.

Four years ago I had carpal tunnel surgery on both hands as well as a cardiac catheterization which revealed two heart blockages for which I received two stents. One of my major problems is trying to control my food portions!

Hi,
Thanks so much for reading and commenting on my blog.

You mentioned about your drip pans { I recently bought new ones for my stove}. I saw a video on Pinterest where they put the gas stovetop burners in plastic bags with vinegar to clean them. Not sure if it would work on the drip pans.

By the way, they sell the drip pans for stoves at Lowe's. Not very expensive. I replaced all 4 of mine.

Blessings,
Brenda

Hi, Lin. Sorry to be so slow in responding to your Spark message. Well, we didn't go south this year and I guess it was a good thing. We did go to our DS and DIL's in Daytona Beach for Christmas, but we were only there for 5 days. When we got home, my Mom (age 94 next month) went into the hospital with a heart attack, but went steadily downhill every day. She passed away on the 5th and we had services on the 8th. Now I'm in the middle of all the related things: the will, the thank yous, taking care of my sister, etc etc. Hopefully next year we'll be able to go somewhere. DH is leaning toward Texas because it is closer to home and not so difficult to get to. We'll see...lots of time before we have to figure that out. How is your back by now? Can you see better since you had your cataract surgery? Happy New Year, by the way!!
