A couple of the other swimmers recommended magnesium! Potassium I get regularly. A banana almost every day, dried apricots at least 3 or 4 times a week... banana was part of breakfast, pre-race, in fact... but I did observe that breakfast was at 6, race wasn't until 9... might have needed a snack closer to race time.
Next week I won't have this timing issue, as the swim starts at 7:30... breakfast at 6 ish is just about perfect. And I will have nutrition on course planned, too.
