Losin' It for Good in 2013!

"If you really want more, scream it out louder,
If you're on the floor, bring out the fire,
And light it up, take it up higher,
Gonna push it to the limit, give it more."
-Usher

Hey all. I'm Milessa (Lissa). I've been struggling with my weight basically my entire life. I was sort of chubby as a kid, and as an adult I've been slimmer, but have never been at my "goal" weight. I'm working on getting there in 2013 after a million false starts.

Hey all. I'm Milessa (Lissa). I've been struggling with my weight basically my entire life. I was sort of chubby as a kid, and as an adult I've been slimmer, but have never been at my "goal" weight. I'm working on getting there in 2013 after a million false starts.

In January 2013 I signed up to do a 12-week program at the YMCA I work at called BeFit to help me with my accountability. I can't wait to see how I'm looking and feeling at the end of the three months. I really do struggle with my stick-to-itness, so this will really be good for me!

Update- April 15, 2013:
I finished the BeFit classes at work and although I didn't lose weight, I'm definitely stronger- my major accomplishment (in my eyes) is that I can now do a proper push-up; at the start of the program I was doing them against the wall! A lengthy bout with sickness (including pneumonia) during March and the beginning of this month kept me out of the gym most days and not really paying much attention to my diet. I'm back up at what is basically my starting weight (201 lbs, yikes!!). Finally feeling better and planning to finish the month strong with lots of exercise and healthy eating. I've changed my tickers and goals to reflect my gains and am thinking positive, not dwelling too much on the mistakes of the past!

Update- May 3, 2013
On Sunday, April 21, 2013 I made the decision to leave my husband, who struggles with an alcohol abuse problem as well as other personal issues that were affecting our marriage (read my blogs for more info). I relocated my son and I back to the Philadelphia area where I grew up; we are staying with my parents indefinitely. I have lined up a job and next on my list is getting a gym membership. It's not easy eating that healthy here, but I am determined. I've lost a few pounds due to stress and general lack of appetite, and even though I'd prefer to lose weight the healthier way, I want to keep the momentum going- I am in a more positive headspace now and I know I can do this.

Hey! Thanks for the thoughtful comment. I've been slacking on my sparking too :( Sorry to hear about you leaving Joe, but if it is the best thing for you and your son, that's what you have to do! I wish you the best of luck with everything!!

I loveee my polar! It actually makes me work out harder when I wear it because I want to see the calories burned be higher!

Hey Lady, I meant to comment the other day, but wanted to you know you and Spencer are in my thoughts! I think you are such a strong and wonderful person/mother! The decision you have made, you will find that it will get easier. I've been through the leaving of the husband, while my story is 100% opposite from yours, I still know the feeling of leaving the person you thought you were going to be with for the rest of your life. It does get easier as time goes on. Hang there sweetie, keep your head up!! Many hugs to you!!
