As for TOPS and their food plan..... yes and no. They recommend the basic exchange plan system. Simple, easy to use. BUT, they don't REQUIRE it, if you know what I mean. You can basically follow any plan that works for you and TOPS is more about the support, encouragement, social aspect. They have friendly "competitions" and play games where you win money for being biggest loser of the week or the month, etc.
I love my group for the social aspect. The ladies are a hoot and a holler. It gives me a much needed social outlet, plus I get an official weigh in weekly, and it helps keep me focused, encouraged, and keeping at it even when I hit a wall. Having to be accountable for a weekly weigh in that's not at home helps me stay focused, too.
So that's how I use TOPS. I think the ladies would be horrified if they knew of my current plan, as are most people who have no clue at all about IF. Sadly, our society today says lose weight but oh don't you dare eat less than 3 meals and 2 snacks every day or you'll go into "starvation mode!" The Big Myth of starvation mode that will kick in if you skip one meal! LOL! so I don't talk about the specifics of my program, not even here on Spark where people will be oh so happy to tell you what's wrong with your plan of eating! Ya gotta laugh.
