Here goes!

I'm a 55 year old mother of four, and I've been enjoying Spark people for about 2 years now! Is it really that long?
I've lost over 20lbs since joining Sparkpeople and only have a few pounds to go till my target weight.
I'm quite fit, but I like chocolate too much so my weight tends to go up unless I keep an eye on it.Sparking helps me to do this, although I find it difficult to track properly and my weight still fluctuates more than I'd like.
I'm looking forward to being ...

I'm looking forward to being a fit and fun Granny- but not just yet!

My Goals:
Give up alcohol and maintain. Done since april 2008
Give up smoking again.
Achieve target weight of 133 lbs.
Maintain Spark Program till I do!
Do strength exercises at least 3 times a week.
Try to walk the dog more often

My Program:
So far, I find following the Spark programme set for me works as long as I stick to it.
Stick within my nutritional limits.
Do the recommended cardiovascular and strength exercises.
Be kind to myself, and be consistent.
I started running with Sparkpeople and began to enjoy it, but my knee and hip complained to I'll have to do something less painful. Swimming is the obvious one, but it is a it like a busman's holiday.

Personal Information:
I the Head Coach of a local swimming club which is something I've always wanted to do, but it is all consuming and hard for me to let it go and do anything else.
Until recently I lived in a big old house and hosted foreign language students but we recently moved to a smaller house and I just live with my youngest daughter unless my older one is home from uni resting on the sofa.
I have four children. My oldest is a teacher and lives in Londonwith his girlfriend.
My second son and his girlfriend live in Oxtead near London.
My 22-year-old daughter is at university and my 15-year-oldis coming up to her GCSE's this year.

Other Information:
I know I need to find more time for myself. I always tend to work too much and play too little.

Thanks for asking about the porridge. I tried a different flavour this morning. I think I will have to put in lots of fruit if I am going to eat it every day. It definitely gets me through to lunchtime though and stops the mid-morning munchies. So it's worth persevering. This is the closest emoticon I can find to someone throwing up:

Thank you so much for the kind comment on my page! I really appreciate it :) It has taken me a long time but I'm finally learning to look at things differently and focus on myself as a whole instead of being fixated on the numbers.

I'm adding you as a friend! Have a lovely weekend!

i am very impressed by your poem and how great to be able to write "as I was running". We've had snow flurries all day here but nothing has settled .....yet.

Nothing, m'lud. I was innocently proceeding in an easterly direction. It was midday. But it was raining and the police must have wondered what this mad woman was doing walking in the rain. Or it could have been the swag bag I was carrying.

Your comment about my writing means a lot to me. Thank you so much for stopping by my page and reading my blog posts. Also, I appreciate your telling me about your daughters' father. It helped me a lot to hear what you had to say. I have felt odd at times still caring so much about someone who hasn't always been good for me. He is my daughter's father though, and my first love. You never forget those! I wish you all the best. I'm sure we'll meet again. Until then...
