My Goals:
1. Read 135 books in 2014.
Read so far: 133 books
2. Qualify for the Boston Marathon.
3. Run till I'm 100.

Upcoming Races:

My Program:
1) Run 6 days a week - following a custom marathon training plan.
2) Eat clean.
3) Work with a personal trainer 2 days a week.

Personal Information:
I love cats and am owned by 6 of them. I also enjoy keeping fish. I have a 2400 gallon koi pond, a 125 gallon goldfish pond, and more aquariums than I am willing to admit to, ranging in size from 2.5 gallons to 140 gallons. I love to garden, in particular to grow my own vegetables. Unfortunately, I no longer have a good space for this, but do have lots of herbs.

I am now (happily) retired.

My husband and I will celebrate our 40th anniversary in May, 2014.

Other Information:
I am a voracious reader. I love my Kindle and the public library.

My field of study at university was English literature (I have an advanced degree in medieval English literature). My first career was teaching at university, but after a few years I went over "to the dark side" and spent most of my professional life at a large, multinational computer company, principally as a planner and project manager.

I am passionate about opera and an emeritus member of the Board of Trustees of the Austin Lyric Opera.

I also serve on the Boards of Austin Shakespeare (Vice President) and the Austin Chamber Music Center (President) as well as serving as the current President of the Austin branch of the English Speaking Union.

Catherine, thanks for your recent comments on my blogs. And thanks for always showing an interest. My DD and DIL both ran the Egg Nog race with me. We had so much fun together on New Year's Day. I expect we will race together again, however, DIL is pregnant, so she has only a couple of races left before baby, and after baby I think she wants to train for the NYC Marathon.

My soon to be 10YO DD will do almost any 5K with me without any training, so I expect her to run with me 4 or 5 times. I should say, I run with her, since I do more 5Ks hoping she will join me:) We love to do the Chinatown 5k in the summer, our hometown Rotary Run, the Space Race in the fall, and we do 2 GOTR races a year.

I have not worked on speed in about 4 months, so I am a little rusty. I am alternating intervals (4-6X800), with Tempo Runs at 10K pace (10:30-10:50). The problem I had with the rookie mistake, is that my training plan is from Danny Dreyer on ChiLiving, and his speed work does not begin until week 6. So I have been improvising and using a Hal Higdon approach, since I used his plan last year.

Considering my HM time has dropped 15 mins in one year, with minimal speed training. Can I really expect to drop as much with a devotion to speed this year? A 2:15 HM would be something for me to brag about.

I always appreciate your expert advice on the boards. Thank you.

The name is great but the course sucks and is a double loop, It's from downtown out Memorial and back. I needed a goal to get myself back out there regularly, and I didn't want to travel. Austin would have been nice, but I would have had to drive there and back, and I've just felt too exhausted to contemplate that. If money were no object, I'd sign up for the Dublin marathon, but I have other priorities for my money these days (a foundation in need of repair is just one.)
