Personal Information:
I love cats and am owned by 4 of them. I also enjoy keeping fish. I have a 2400 gallon koi pond, a 125 gallon goldfish pond, and more aquariums than I am willing to admit to, ranging in size from 2.5 gallons to 140 gallons. I love to garden, in particular to grow my own vegetables. Unfortunately, I no longer have a good space for this, but do have lots of herbs.

I am now (happily) retired.

My husband and I will celebrate our 42nd anniversary in May, 2016.

Other Information:
I am a voracious reader. I love my Kindle and the public library.

My field of study at university was English literature (I have an advanced degree in medieval English literature). My first career was teaching at university, but after a few years I went over "to the dark side" and spent most of my professional life at a large, multinational computer company, principally as a planner and project manager.

I am passionate about opera and an emeritus member of the Board of Trustees of the Austin Lyric Opera.

I also serve on the Boards of Austin Shakespeare (Treasurer) and the Austin Chamber Music Center (Strategic Planning Chair).

Thanks for your support on my Galloway training thread.

I am happy to report that my RMT friend solved my foot injury by unknotting my tight calves and giving me some stretching and foam rolling exercises to do on my own. One of my friends had a similar tender spot on both her feet, and I hadn't seen her in a long time, and when I told her the solution to mine, she is going to try it too. She said it makes sense to her because she has very tight calves.
As you know, I just started running again. I feel great, it is wonderful to be running again.

Thanks for your comments about weeding. You are absolutely right! Just because I weed doesn't mean I get to quit weeding. Thanks for reminding me. -Marsha

My pain is on the outside midfoot between the metatarsals and tarsals (tarsals also go by a different name) but it is a similar condition in that there is inflammation at the part where the tendon joins and it can be caused by tight calves

Thanks so much Catherine. I will look through the information you sent.
With Galloway, I loved not having the most usual running injury, knees, and always felt like I would keep running until I am at least 100 :) I got this foot injury by wearing and walking a lot in the wrong shoes. There is always something, The shoes were good support running-shoe style trail shoes, but I should have remembered I always do best in minimalist shoes. I also got at the same time plantar fasciitis, and a tender spot on the ball of my foot, exactly like the article you sent me. I have solved those two by returning to minimalist shoes, but the last tender spot is lingering, one of my friends who is an RMT suggested it is a tendonitis that is related to tight calf muscles and I should go to a PT, which I plan to do. Anyway, I will solve this and eventually get back to running, I'm sure.

    Hi Catherine
Just wondering if you have any knowledge of this injury. I have tendonitis where the tendon attaches on the outside of my foot at the point where the metatarsals meet the tarsals. I am planning to go the a physiotherapist, but have not gone yet. At first I thought I had neuropathy, but it is tender and painful, not pins and needles or numb.
