HELLO ALL,

WELCOME! to my Spark Page.

Come, sit down and have a cup of tea while we get to know each other!

Hope you enjoy your stay!

With the season of Autumn comes cool crisp days and nights, along with the bountiful harvest of the fruits of our labors.
For me it has also meant a lot of changes in my life.

I have a bible verse to share that means a lot to me right now...

1 Corinthians 10:13
"No trial has overtaken you that is not faced by others. And God is faithful: He will not let you be tried beyond what you are able to bear, but with the trial will also provide a way out so that you may be able to endure it"

The past year has had its share of trials and tribulations for me.
I recently received a diagnosis of arthritis in my knees.
I am learning how important it is to stay close to the Lord during these trials that I am facing. For I can do nothing without His help.
God is calling me to become closer to Him as I deal with the challenges that arthritis brings.

You sound spunkier today, Sue! Being proactive always helps me feel better. Makes me feel like I'm in control. Seeing a registered dietician is a great idea. Let me know how it goes. Keeping you in prayer!

Hey Girl! You do have a lot going on! I will definitely pray for you. My mom and I have been struggling with dietary issues - she because she is diabetic, me because I'm trying to avoid becoming diabetic. I've been reading a book called Diabetic Meal Planning Made Easy. It says it's for people with pre-diabetes or diabetes, but also talks about high blood pressure and bad cholesterol. It's compared with a regular sensible diet. Nothing is off limits.

The basic idea, which is what I find with most meal plans these days, is lean meats (chicken, turkey, fish), many vegetables of all kinds and colors, 2 servings of fruit daily and lots of water. I have carb and sodium issues, so I'm trying to stay away from pasta and all fast food and processed foods. The book is really helpful - it breaks all food down into categories (starches, fats, etc.) and suggests foods to eat to get nutrients we may need that we don't often get. You might want to check it out at your local library and see if it would be helpful to you.

Let me know what Becky says. I'm rooting for you! You can do this! emoticon

Sounds like you're going to be busy. I love the fall. The weather, the wind, the smells, the way the sunlight is so different. It's magical.

Have a beautiful day, KIddo! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

    Hey Suzy-Q,

How is life treating you? I think about you lately when my knees hurt. Not arthritis, though. Somehow I've strained the tendons around my knees. Who knows how. Doc has me doing physical therapy at home. Getting better every day.

Hey, if you're looking for a good team to join, the 50+ team is great. Friendly people really supporting each other.

I'm fully retired now. Quit working at the library about 3 weeks ago. It was a good decision. Now I'm re-engaging in Spark, taking care of Mom, playing my keyboard and teaching 14 7th graders about Jesus on Tuesday afternoons. It's a great life!

What's new with you? emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

    Hi Sue ~

Glad you're still around. A lot of my friends took some time off this summer. It's been weirdly quiet.

I revamped my page a little bit and have some new goals. Posted them on the fridge and feel like I'm making progress in the exercise and water departments today. The day is young. I still have time to reach all my goals.

I'm off to view some video on how to re-caulk my bathtub, then I'm gonna give it a shot. Wish me luck!
