My name is Keith and I am trying to improve my eating habits. My name is Keith and I am trying to improve my eating habits. I exercise regularly (every day), but have not been able to consistently lose weight due to my poor eating. 2009-12-24 Update: I'm still not consistent about my eating, but I have improved to the point of losing 20 pounds. I have also just completed a full year of exercising every day. 2010-01-01: I am setting myself some goals in several different areas for this year. Some are related to weight loss, of course, but there are others that are for my own growth and to challenge myself. I may add to these or modify some of them as the year goes on, but I hope that I will be able to achieve these ones as a starting point. So, here they are - Resolutions for 2010: Fitness I have done well in this area in the past year. I have worked out every day, and I did 3 half marathons in 2009. I want to maintain my consistency, and try to add to the running a little. - Work out every day to continue my streak which started 2008-12-23 - Run 5 half marathons during the year: o PF Chang’s R’n’R Half Marathon 2010-01-17 (Completed! 2:44:16) o Lost Dutchman Half Marathon 2010-02-15 o ? o ? o ? - Improve my half marathon time from the 2:45:02 in the Fiesta Bowl Half Marathon which I did on 2009-12-06. (Improved it a little in the P.F. Chang's) - Do 5 hours on the treadmill desk every day I work from home. - Complete the 100 Push Up Challenge Weight In the past, despite all the exercise, I have not been successful in keeping my weight under control. I have lost weight on several occasions, but then regained it after a stressful incident or an injury. This year, I am setting my sights on getting my BMI into the healthy range, but doing it more slowly. By setting my targets at only 5 pounds per month, I hope I'll have more success with maintaining it. - Reach my goal weight of 165 pounds by 9/1/2010 - Get below 195 by 2010-01-31 (DONE - 193.2 2010-01-22) - Get below 190 by 2010-02-28 - Get below 185 by 2010-03-31 - Get below 180 by 2010-04-30 (lowest weight I have on record is 183.5 in 5/2007) - Get below 175 by 2010-05-31 - Get below 170 by 2010-06-30 FitLinxx Points The gym I go to uses a tracking system called FitLinxx. It gives you 25 points for every 5 minutes of cardio exercise, 10 points for every weight exercise plus 1 point for every 100 pounds lifted. You achieve different levels based on your total points. I only have two more levels to achieve, Gold and Platinum. Reaching these levels will serve as an incentive to continue my exercise. - Reach Gold level by 2010-05-31 (400,000 points) (over 342,000 as of 2010-01-25) - Reach Platinum level 2010-10-31 (500,000 points) SparkPeople Points I look at these points as a measure of how involved I am with the process of getting healthy and losing weight, but also with how involved I am with supporting others in the SparkPeople community. I hope that by posting to the boards, contributing to my teams, and commenting on other members' blogs and home pages that I can be a positive force in helping others meet their goals. - Average at least 110 points/day - Average at least 3300 points/month - Earn at least 40,000 points for the year So, these are my goals for the year! I plan to revisit them regularly and update my progress (as well as learn from any set backs - hopefully not too many). I know that I can count on all of you to support my efforts, and I look forward to helping all my SparkFriends reach your goals for 2010 as well!

My Goals:
2009-09-26: I would like to lose 50 pounds over the next year. 2009-12-24: I'm down 20 pounds in the first three months on SP! 30 pounds to go over the next 9 months! That's less than 4 pounds a month which should be very doable!
My Program:
I exercise every day, and I am improving my eating habits by tracking everything I eat and working with a dietician. Goals for 2010: This is a condensed version. Personal Information:
I am originally from Canada, but now live in Arizona with my wife and 10 little rescued dogs. I have run six marathons and over 30 half marathons, and yet I haven't been able to get my weight down where it belongs - yet!
