If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got.

5% Fall Challenge was a TOTAL failure! I gained even more! Same goals for the Winter round; just keep pluggin' away!

5% Fall Challenge starts Sept. 26th!
I've continued to gain for the last couple years but I've upped the exercise the last month and am getting a handle on the excess calories. Looking to lose 7 - 10 pounds in 8 weeks!

Well, here it is a new year! I've been saying for the last 2 years that THIS would be my year and all I've done is gain weight. ...

Tom and I have spent the last year moving and getting him fixed up and, 3 surgeries later, we're ready to have a great year. Plans for this year include 2 trips to Iowa to see his only grandchild and one trip to WY to visit with some of my family. I WILL lose the weight this year.

I've been a member of Spark for several years and it's all sinking in, slowly. I'm getting much better at portion control and only eating when I'm hungry. Also making sure that I don't keep a lot of snack food in the house. It's certainly a lifestyle change for the better.

Update 3/22/14
Finally found a new job! Not really where I want to be, but definitely better than where I was. I'm currently driving 50 miles one-way to work but trying to find a house to rent or get a loan to buy one closer.
I've continued to gain because I just can't seem to stay off the 'liquid calories' (beer, energy drink, and Coke). Getting better though!

Mini-challenge for you: Change YOUR focus ...

Focus on: What you can do, not what you can't do
Focus on: What foods you can have, not foods you can't have
Focus on: How far you've come, not how far you have to go
Focus on: What you're doing right, not what you're doing wrong

Say "I don't ..." instead of "I can't ..." It puts the power to choose in YOUR hands. YOU are in control because You are a Champion! emoticon emoticon

emoticon Thank you Mama for taking such good care of me and understanding how much pain I was really feeling. Now I'm able to be pain free and do all the kitty things that my poor body was no longer able to do.

Lisa, we're here for you and you are in our prayers!

Mini-challenge for you: "TIDY UP"

Set aside 5 or 10 minutes every day .... to straighten up something, whether it be your desk, a cluttered table, junk drawer, or the kitchen counter. Return items to their rightful places, recycle, and put papers you need to go through in a folder for later.

A chaotic or disorganized space makes everyday tasks seem harder because you feel like you're always running behind. Cleaning up even one small physical space can help clear mental space, allowing you to be more efficient the rest of the day.
