Well, that didn't go so well. Tax season is almost over, but that triggers 3 months of '1 year since'. Tom came home from the hospital on the 19th of April and that began a 3-month wait, culminating in his death July 12th. I'm still drinking too much and not moving nearly enough. I'm hoping that I can get it together once the push is over and the gardening starts. I'm holding on by a thread.

OK, so this year has been one disaster after another. Tom is gone, Mom is gone, Christmas trip to Phoenix to spend with Tony had almost more problems than the time with Tony was worth. Almost; I love my boys! 2018 HAS to be better. Winter 2018 round of the 5% Challenge starts on Jan. 6th and I really need this. I will work on de-stressing, even through tax season, and limit the alcohol to Sat. evening only. That will give me time in the evening to work out. I will also get up in the morning and work out before work.

Summer round of the 5% Challenge is starting in a week. Stress is at an all-time high so I'm just hoping to find some kind of 'normal' schedule.

Spring round of the 5% Challenge starts April 8th. I've finally stopped gaining and am working on getting rid of the gluten from my diet. It really seems to mess with me, so it's not too hard to give it up.
My activity has been almost non-existent this winter so I'm trying to find the motivation to get out and move a little.

Winter round of 5% Challenge starts Jan. 14th! I'm still gaining, but have started the Prime program to detox and will be AF for the month. Get rid of the candy, the cookies, etc. and bring on the fruits and veggies!

Gearing up for the 5% Fall Challenge to start Sept. 24th! It's been an interesting summer.

So now the 5% Summer Challenge starts! Not sure why I signed up, except that I like the team I'm on. They're a pretty active, positive bunch. I've been at this for 9 years apparently and I'm at a higher weight than when I started. I will take stock of just what I'm doing and what I did when I lost the original weight and get this taken care of! It's just one of those small annoyances that you CAN live with, but would rather NOT!

5% Winter & Spring Challenges weren't much better!

5% Fall Challenge was a TOTAL failure! I gained even more! Same goals for the Winter round; just keep pluggin' away!

5% Fall Challenge starts Sept. 26th!
I've continued to gain for the last couple years but I've upped the exercise the last month and am getting a handle on the excess calories. Looking to lose 7 - 10 pounds in 8 weeks!

Well, here it is a new year! I've been saying for the last 2 years that THIS would be my year and all I've done is gain weight.
Tom and I have spent the last year moving and getting him fixed up and, 3 surgeries later, we're ready to have a great year. Plans for this year include 2 trips to Iowa to see his only grandchild and one trip to WY to visit with some of my family. I WILL lose the weight this year.

I've been a member of Spark for several years and it's all sinking in, slowly. I'm getting much better at portion control and only eating when I'm hungry. Also making sure that I don't keep a lot of snack food in the house. It's certainly a lifestyle change for the better.

Update 3/22/14
Finally found a new job! Not really where I want to be, but definitely better than where I was. I'm currently driving 50 miles one-way to work but trying to find a house to rent or get a loan to buy one closer.
I've continued to gain because I just can't seem to stay off the 'liquid calories' (beer, energy drink, and Coke). Getting better though!

emoticon We've gotten off to a great "flyin' start," Champion!!! emoticon

Try this recipe for success: Mix 3 balanced meals and 2 snacks, with aerobic exercise of any type for a minimum of 30 minutes; add a strong shot of consistency, and whip with a teaspoon of humor. Be sure to add enough water to keep things well-hydrated. Serve on a 9” plate and have fun chatting around the kitchen table! Repeat daily after a night’s sleep.

But neither are you where you used to be!

Small habits repeated daily can go a very long way.

For example, walking for just a mile a day may not seem much at first.

But, if you walked a mile every day for a year, by the end of the year you would have walked 365 miles...in ten years you would have walked 3,650 miles.

Imagine the benefits to your body, your respiratory system, your heart, your muscles, your joints and your weight, if you were to walk just one mile a day.
