Five Years!

UPDATE February 23, 2014

I'm approaching my fifth anniversary on Spark! I dropped 50 pounds, then gained a bunch back. I'm stuck at the 15 pound mark, and my goal is to take it off by August.

I also passed the bar exam! Yay! And now I'm practicing law. Since there are no jobs out there, I'm working in solo practice. Not much money is coming in yet, but the work is there and so the income will follow. My goal is to be working truly full time by August.

Goals for Spring:
1) Swim three to four times per week, run/walk or bike as often as I can.
2) Stick to my standard low carb diet. I need to lose 15 pounds.
3) Continue taking court appointments and start marketing myself, by developing a website, and through word of mouth.

Hi Laurie,

Thanks for your comment on my “Pedaling a Bulldozer – Fat Bike” blog. My 9:Zero:7 fat bike is such a hoot to ride in the snow that the cold never bothers me. I have all the necessary cold weather gear to ride in very cold temperatures. Besides, Colorado is a high dessert and everything, including snow, is dry.

Thanks, Bruce

Hi Laurie,

Thanks for your comment on my “Monarch Crest Trail” blog. Green’s Creek trail was one of the most difficult and relentless trails I have ever done. There were bike killing rocks and drop-offs every few seconds. My Santa Cruz Bronson performed flawlessly. I want to go back!

The medicinal beers at the Boathouse Cantina were quite welcome. But even more welcome was cold icy clear water.

After hearing our stories and seeing the photos of Monarch Crest, a couple of our roadie friends are looking for mountain bikes!

Thanks, Bruce

Lol, well, get this...she is working at Wings Over in Athens. She KNOWS that we are wanting her to get a job using her degree and she is applying but she is doing very well. This is just to hold her over until she gets a job offer. But she is doing very well for herself. She makes about $120 a night in tips not counting her paycheck. Shoot, she's making more money than I did at my job so I can't complain. And yes, I was an LPN. That is a "dying" field, though. Seriously. Most places want RN or BSN anymore. And LPNs are becoming no more than a glorified STNA. I got out right before it started snowballing. I still love the medical field but it is overworked and often times underpaid. So I've re-entered into the medical office. In this area, they make a decent paycheck and I can sit down and take a load off now.

What about you?? What are you up to?? And how is your son doing? Wasn't he going to school with Bre?

Hi! Long time no see! I've been wondering how you've been and I see that you have graduated!! Woohoo!! Bre has graduated as well and it's crazy how fast the time went. Sometimes I still can't believe she's an OU grad but she did it! Cum laude!

So since you all graduated, I didn't want to be left out. I decided to go for something a little easier, though. Medical coding. I'm tired of long hours, so I want a day job, Monday thru Friday, weekends off. Fourth week in and I'm done in March!

Hope life is treating you well. :) Miss you!

Hi Laurie,

Thanks for your comment on my “Bike Junkie” blog. I am a bike addict. I like ‘em fast and furious. The Bronson is a wild ride. I am working to get the Bronson Dialed-In. The bike likes maximum air in the rear shock and minimum air on the front fork. I am still playing with handlebar and stem combinations.

I have a few other projects. I am converting my Canfield 29” hardtail into a single speed bike. I am converting Little Cam to tubeless tires, and 2x10 instead of the 3x9.

I fiddle with mechanical things a lot.

Thanks, Bruce
